This guide provides essential instructions for properly grounding UU606040W equipment and associated conduit, ensuring compliance with electrical codes and preventing electric shock. Grounding must be completed by the customer as part of the installation.
Estimated time: 20m
Tools needed:
Screwdriver, Wire strippers
Supplies needed:
Grounding bushing, Grounding wire, Locknut, Wire connectors
- Understand Grounding Requirements
WARNING: To avoid electric shock, grounding must be installed by the customer as part of the installation. Ground all equipment and conduit in accordance with the requirements of the National Electrical Code. Be aware that non-metallic enclosures do not provide grounding between conduit connections.
- Ground Metallic Conduit
For metallic conduit, attach a grounding bushing to the conduit hub on the inside of the enclosure. Ensure the grounding bushing is securely fastened with a locknut. Connect a grounding wire to the provision on the grounding bushing.
- Ground Non-Metallic Conduit
For non-metallic conduit and hubs, run a separate grounding wire inside the conduit. A grounding bushing is not required for non-metallic conduit, but the grounding wire must be properly connected at both ends.
- Establish System Grounding Continuity
Provide system grounding by connecting wires from all conduit entries to the subpanel or to another suitable point that ensures electrical continuity throughout the system. Use appropriate wire connectors for secure connections.
- Ground External Metal Devices
Properly ground any device that has a metal portion or portions extending out of the enclosure. Ensure these external metal parts are securely connected to the system's grounding path.
