Overview

The **nVent Quick Tray Pro Wire Mesh Cable Tray System (SKU: QTP2X18)** is a high-performance, lightweight solution designed for the organized routing and management of cables in industrial, commercial, and infrastructure environments. Engineered from durable **steel** and finished in a **light gray** coating for corrosion resistance and aesthetic integration, this **2.00x18.00x120.00** straight section provides a scalable, modular framework that simplifies cable installation while ensuring long-term accessibility for maintenance and upgrades. As part of the **Quick Tray Pro** series, this system is built to meet the demanding requirements of modern electrical and data infrastructure, offering a balance of strength, flexibility, and ease of use that sets it apart in the cable management category. Cable management systems like the **nVent Quick Tray Pro** are essential in facilities where cable clutter can lead to safety hazards, operational inefficiencies, or compliance issues. This **wire mesh cable tray** is particularly well-suited for environments such as manufacturing plants, data centers, commercial buildings, healthcare facilities, and utility installations, where large volumes of cables must be routed efficiently and securely. The open-mesh design promotes natural airflow, reducing heat buildup and extending cable lifespan, while the modular components allow for rapid customization to accommodate evolving infrastructure needs. Unlike solid-bottom trays, wire mesh trays minimize dust accumulation and simplify cable inspection, making them ideal for applications requiring frequent access or stringent cleanliness standards. The **QTP2X18** straight section is a foundational component of the Quick Tray Pro system, enabling professionals to create linear cable pathways that can be extended, joined, or reconfigured with minimal effort. Its **18-inch width** provides ample space for routing multiple cables, while the **2-inch depth** ensures stability and support without excessive material use. Installation is streamlined thanks to the system’s **snap-lock or bolted connections**, which eliminate the need for specialized tools and reduce labor time. The **light gray finish** not only enhances visibility against most industrial backdrops but also resists chipping and fading, maintaining a professional appearance over time. Selecting the right cable tray system involves evaluating factors such as load capacity, environmental conditions, and compliance with industry standards. The **nVent Quick Tray Pro** series is designed to exceed the requirements of **NEMA, NEC, and UL standards**, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of electrical and data cabling applications. Its **steel construction** provides superior strength-to-weight ratio, allowing it to support heavy cable loads without sagging or deformation. Additionally, the system’s **corrosion-resistant coating** ensures durability in harsh or humid environments, such as outdoor installations or food processing facilities. Professionals in electrical contracting, facility management, and industrial engineering rely on trusted brands like **nVent** for reliable, high-quality solutions. With decades of experience in thermal management and electrical infrastructure, nVent delivers products that prioritize performance, safety, and ease of installation. The **Quick Tray Pro Wire Mesh Cable Tray System** exemplifies this commitment, offering a versatile, cost-effective solution for cable organization that reduces downtime, simplifies maintenance, and supports future scalability. How to Install and Modify QUICK TRAY PRO™ Cable Tray Sections

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing and modifying QUICK TRAY PRO™ Cable Tray sections, including cutting, forming bends, and connecting sections to create a custom cable management system.

Estimated time: 1h 30m

Tools needed:

Hoffman Side Action Bolt Cutter (QTPBC), Measuring tape, Marker

Supplies needed:

QUICK TRAY PRO™ Cable Tray sections, Splice Kit (QTPBNWK or QTPBNWKBLK), Splice Washer (QTPSSW3 or QTPSSW3BLK), Universal Splice Bar (QTPUS10 or QTPUS10BLK, if reducing width or Y-junction), T-Connection or 90-degree Splice Bar (QTP90TKIT or QTP90TKITBLK, if creating 90-degree tee)

  1. Plan Tray Layout and Mark Cuts

Before cutting, plan the complete cable tray layout, including straight runs, bends, elbows, and tees. Review the cutting patterns provided in the manual for your desired modifications. Mark the wires to be cut on the tray sections using a suitable marker, ensuring precision to minimize sharp edges.

  2. Cut QUICK TRAY PRO™ Cable Tray Sections

Use the Hoffman side action bolt cutter (QTPBC) to make all cuts. For side wires, position the cutting jaws on the cradle wire and cut at an angle away from the new end. For bottom wires, turn the tray over, rest the cutting jaws on the cradle wire, and cut at an angle away from the new end. Make one clean cut to avoid grinding or touch-up. This specialized cutter helps protect the cut from corrosion.

  3. Form a 90-Degree Bend

At the desired bend location, cut the side and bottom wires according to the specific cutting pattern for your tray width (refer to the manual's 'Creating a 90o Bend' section). Turn the tray on the uncut side and smoothly bend it until the inside edges closest to the uncut side meet. Secure the bend using QTPBNWK/QTPBNWKBLK Splice Kits and QTPSSW3/QTPSSW3BLK Splice Washers at the indicated locations for your tray width.

  4. Connect Tray Sections

To join straight sections or secure bends, elbows, or tees, use QTPBNWK/QTPBNWKBLK Splice Kits and QTPSSW3/QTPSSW3BLK Splice Washers. For straight connections, align the tray sections and fasten them together. For elbows or tees, align the wires of the two trays at the desired angle and fasten using the appropriate number of splice kits and washers, ensuring each splice washer covers two tray bottom wires.

  5. Install Tray Supports

Install supports for straight sections typically at 6-foot (1.5m) centers. Ensure supports are placed within 24 inches (610mm) of any splice on straight sections. The span between supports must not exceed the length of the tray section. Provide additional supports around bends and wherever the cable tray level changes to maintain stability and load capacity.
