How to Install the Top-Mount Filter Fan

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing a top-mount filter fan in an enclosure, ensuring proper airflow and cooling.

Estimated time: 45m

Tools needed:

Screwdriver, Wire strippers, Multimeter

Supplies needed:

Mounting screws, M6 hex nuts, Gasket, Filter, Grilles

  1. Prepare the enclosure

Apply the cutout template to the top of the enclosure at the desired location. Ensure that all internal components are clear of the cutting area to avoid damage.

  2. Cut the hole

Cut out the hole in the enclosure as per the template. Deburr the cutting edge to prevent injury or damage.

  3. Install the gasket and fan

Apply the gasket to the enclosure. Insert the top-mount filter fan over the gasket and into the cutout hole. Secure it using M6 hex nuts and torque to 35 in/lbs (4 Nm).

  4. Install the filter and cowl

Install the filter around the filter fan and then re-install the cowl top of the filter fan.

  5. Install the grilles

Using the grille cutout templates, install one or two grilles as appropriate for your model. Ensure the correct cutout size is used.

  6. Verify clearance

Ensure that the installed top-mount filter fan and grilles have a minimum clearance of 7.00 inches (178 mm) from any obstruction.

  7. Wire the filter fan

Follow the wiring diagram provided to connect the filter fan to the power supply. Use a multimeter to verify connections.
