How to Install the Side-Mount Filter Fans and Grilles

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing side-mount filter fans and grilles in an enclosure.

Screwdriver, Wire strippers, Drill, Multimeter

Supplies needed:

Mounting screws, Terminal connectors, Cutout template

  1. Prepare the enclosure

    Apply the cutout template to the desired location on the side of the enclosure. Ensure that all internal components are clear of the cutting area to avoid damage.

  2. Cut the hole

    Using the appropriate cutout size for your model, cut a hole in the enclosure. Deburr the cutting edge to ensure a smooth finish.

  3. Insert the fan or grille

    Insert the fan or grille into the cutout and push until all four corners snap and lock into place.

  4. Secure the installation

    If the panel thickness is between 0.10 (2.5 mm) and 0.14 (3.5 mm), install mounting fasteners. For thickness greater than 0.14 (3.5 mm), mounting fasteners are required. Remove the grille to install fasteners if necessary.

  5. Torque the fasteners

    If applicable, torque the fasteners to 20-25 in-lbs (2.3-2.8 Nm) to ensure a secure fit.

  6. Wire the filter fan

    Follow the wire diagrams provided in the manual to connect the filter fan to the power supply correctly.

  7. Verify clearance

    Ensure that the installed filter fan has a minimum clearance of 7.00 (178 mm) from any obstructions.
