Overview

The nVent F88WRE44 Reducer Bushing is a precision-engineered feed-through component designed to seamlessly transition between wireway sizes in industrial electrical distribution systems. Manufactured by nVent, a global leader in electrical solutions, this 8x8 to 4x4 reducer bushing ensures optimal alignment and protection for wires and cables while maintaining system integrity. The gray steel construction provides durability and corrosion resistance, making it suitable for demanding environments across multiple industries. This reducer bushing features a center hole design that precisely centers the two wireway sizes, ensuring smooth cable routing and minimizing stress points. The edge hole configuration maintains top-surface alignment, allowing for clean, flush connections with adjacent wireway sections and fittings. The feed-through design enables easy integration into existing systems, reducing installation time and complexity while enhancing overall reliability. Typical applications for the nVent F88WRE44 include industrial control panels, machinery enclosures, commercial electrical rooms, and data centers where space-efficient wire management is critical. It is particularly well-suited for environments requiring protection against dust, debris, and moisture ingress, such as manufacturing facilities, warehouses, and outdoor installations. The bushing’s robust steel construction also makes it ideal for high-vibration applications, including automotive plants, mining operations, and heavy machinery environments. Professionals select reducer bushings like the F88WRE44 based on several key criteria: compatibility with existing wireway systems, material durability, and ease of installation. nVent’s reputation for engineering excellence ensures that this bushing meets stringent industry standards, including UL and NEMA certifications for electrical safety and performance. The product’s design also facilitates compliance with NEC (National Electrical Code) requirements for wireway protection and cable management. Installation is straightforward, typically involving insertion into a pre-drilled edge hole of the larger wireway (8x8) and securing it with appropriate hardware. The reducer bushing then accepts the smaller wireway (4x4) on the opposite side, creating a secure, dust-tight seal. For optimal performance, professionals should ensure proper alignment and torque specifications during installation to prevent cable damage or system failures. nVent’s commitment to innovation and quality makes the F88WRE44 a trusted choice for engineers and electricians seeking reliable wireway solutions. With a UNSPSC code of 39131710, this reducer bushing aligns with industry-standard classifications for electrical fittings, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of systems. Whether used in new construction or retrofit projects, the F88WRE44 delivers consistent performance, reduced maintenance costs, and long-term system reliability.

How to Install the Feed-Through Wireway

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing and configuring the Feed-Through Wireway, ensuring proper assembly and grounding.

Estimated time: 1h

Tools needed:

Screwdriver, Drill, Wire strippers

Supplies needed:

Mounting screws, Gaskets, Terminal connectors, Lockwashers, .25−20 screws

  1. Assemble the wireway sections

Place a gasket between the flanges of the wireway sections and secure them using screws and nuts as shown in the assembly details.

  2. Install the telescope fitting

Assemble the telescope fitting parts in the correct order, insert it into the straight section, and adjust to the desired length. Ensure the gasket is properly positioned against the flange.

  3. Anchor the telescope fitting

Drill .25 inch diameter holes through each side of the straight section and telescope fitting. Install .25−20x.5 screws through the holes from the outside and secure with cap nuts and lockwashers.

  4. Ground the wireway

If the wireway is to be used for grounding, ensure that provisions are made for grounding continuity across the telescope fitting.

  5. Cut the wireway to length

Cut the wireway body to the desired length, ensuring to leave space for the flange and gaskets. Grind off any burrs and sharp edges.

  6. Install the swivel nipple

Position the wireway section, flange gasket, swivel ring, and swivel nipple in order. Secure with screws and nuts, ensuring all components are tightly fastened.

  7. Make box entries

For box entries, cut out the necessary openings in the enclosure as shown in the details. Position the box connector and gasket inside the enclosure, and another gasket between the wireway and the enclosure.

  8. Install hangers

Assemble the hangers as shown in the details, ensuring they are attached to the wireway flanges in various positions as needed.
