Overview

The nVent F66T124GVP Straight Section Lay-in Flat-Cover Type 1 wireway is a premium industrial-grade solution designed for safe, efficient, and accessible cable management in commercial and industrial environments. Manufactured by nVent, a global leader in electrical and thermal management solutions, this 6-inch by 6-inch by 24-inch gray steel section provides a robust enclosure for wire and cable runs while eliminating the need for labor-intensive wire pulling. Its open-side design allows for easy lay-in installation, reducing installation time and minimizing the risk of insulation damage that can occur with traditional pull-through wiring methods. Engineered for versatility, the F66T124GVP is ideal for applications requiring flush mounting to walls or ceilings, thanks to its flat-cover design. The cover features keyhole screw slots for quick and secure access, enabling maintenance teams to perform inspections, upgrades, or reconfigurations without dismantling the entire system. Available in lengths from 12 inches to 120 inches, with or without knockouts, this wireway section adapts seamlessly to projects of any scale, from small office renovations to large-scale industrial facilities. The Type 1 designation ensures compliance with stringent safety and performance standards, making it suitable for use in environments where fire resistance and durability are critical. Common applications include data centers, manufacturing plants, healthcare facilities, educational institutions, and commercial buildings where organized, code-compliant cable management is essential. The absence of knockouts in this specific model (F66T124GVP) provides a clean, uninterrupted pathway for cables, reducing the risk of snags or damage during installation or future modifications. Professionals in electrical contracting, system integration, and facility management rely on nVent’s wireway solutions for their reliability, ease of installation, and long-term performance. The F66T124GVP’s steel construction offers superior strength and corrosion resistance, ensuring longevity even in demanding industrial settings. Its compatibility with nVent’s comprehensive line of wireway accessories—such as elbows, tees, and reducers—allows for the creation of custom, scalable cable management systems tailored to specific project requirements. When selecting a wireway section, consider factors such as load capacity, environmental conditions, and compliance with local electrical codes. nVent’s Type 1 wireway systems are designed to meet or exceed NEC (National Electrical Code) requirements, providing peace of mind for installers and end-users alike. Whether you’re retrofitting an existing facility or designing a new infrastructure, the nVent F66T124GVP Straight Section Lay-in Flat-Cover Type 1 offers a practical, high-performance solution for organized, accessible, and code-compliant cable management.

How to Install Type 1 Snap Connect Wireway

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for connecting and securing Type 1 Wireway sections using the integrated snap connect feature.

Estimated time: 15m

Tools needed:

Screwdriver, Torque wrench

Supplies needed:

Type 1 Wireway sections, Hex head screws (10-32x.250)

  1. Align Wireway Sections

Position two Type 1 Wireway sections end-to-end, ensuring the snap connect features are correctly aligned for engagement.

  2. Engage Snap Connect Feature

Push the two wireway sections firmly together until the snap connect feature audibly 'clicks' into place, indicating a secure initial connection.

  3. Install Exterior Securing Screws

Insert the provided hex head screws into the designated securing holes on the exterior of the connected wireway sections. Typically, two screws are used for this step.

  4. Tighten Exterior Screws

Using a screwdriver or torque wrench, tighten the exterior securing screws to a torque of 4.5 1 0.5 N7m (40 1 4.0 LBF7IN). Ensure both screws are tightened evenly.

  5. Install Interior Securing Screws

Install additional hex head screws into the securing holes located on the inside of the connected wireway sections. This provides further stability to the connection.

  6. Tighten Interior Screws

Tighten the interior securing screws to a torque of 4.5 1 0.5 N7m (40 1 4.0 LBF7IN). Verify all screws are securely fastened to complete the wireway connection.
