Overview

The nVent F66L48 is a 6.00 x 6.00 x 48.00 inch straight section lay-in wireway designed for NEMA Type 12 environments. Constructed from 14-gauge steel with ANSI 61 gray polyester powder coating inside and out, this wireway provides robust protection against dust, dirt, and light liquid splashing in industrial settings. The hinged cover with quick-release latches enables tool-free access for easy cable installation and maintenance, eliminating the need for wire pulling. The lay-in design allows cables to be placed directly into the channel, reducing installation time by up to 50% compared to traditional wireways. With a 6x6 inch cross-section, it accommodates substantial wire bundles for complex electrical distribution systems. Certified to UL 870 and cUL per CSA C22.2 No. 26, the F66L48 is ideal for manufacturing plants, processing facilities, and heavy machinery operations where reliable cable management and environmental protection are critical. Manufactured in the USA by nVent, a leader in electrical protection solutions.

How to Install the Lay-In Wireway

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing and sealing the Lay-In Wireway sections for effective cable management.

Estimated time: 1h

Tools needed:

Screwdriver, Drill, Wrench

Supplies needed:

Mounting screws, Gaskets, Nuts, Wire connectors

  1. Assemble the wireway sections

Place a gasket between the flanges of the wireway sections and secure them with screws and nuts as shown in the installation details.

  2. Seal the joints

After installing the wires, seal each joint between the sections using either the LSGQR fitting method or the 90° angle sealing plate method as described in the installation details.

  3. Install box entries

Make a cutout in the control enclosure for the wireway entry, position the box connector and gasket inside the enclosure, and seal the connection with a 90° angle sealing plate.

  4. Adjust telescope fittings

Assemble the compression ring, gasket, and retainer on the telescope fitting, insert it into the straight section, and adjust to the desired length. Secure it with screws and nuts.

  5. Anchor telescope fittings

If the telescope fitting is used vertically, drill .25 inch diameter holes through the sides and bottom of the straight section and telescope fitting, then install screws and cap nuts to secure.

  6. Calibrate and test

After installation, verify that all connections are secure and that the wireway is properly grounded if used for grounding purposes.
