Overview

The nVent Concept Wallmount Enclosure (SKU: CSD20166SS) is a high-performance, Type 4X-rated stainless steel enclosure designed for demanding indoor and outdoor applications where corrosion resistance, durability, and secure closure are critical. Engineered from 304 stainless steel with a brushed finish, this enclosure combines robust construction with a sleek, modern aesthetic, making it ideal for environments exposed to chemicals, moisture, and harsh weather conditions. The quarter-turn latch ensures quick and secure access while maintaining IP66/IP67 ingress protection, preventing dust and water ingress even in submerged or high-pressure scenarios. Designed for professionals who demand reliability without compromising on style, the Concept Wallmount Enclosure is part of nVent’s trusted Concept series, known for its precision engineering and adherence to stringent industry standards. The 20x16x6 inch dimensions provide ample internal space for housing sensitive electrical and electronic components, control panels, or automation systems, while the wall-mount design simplifies installation in tight or hard-to-reach locations. The brushed stainless steel finish not only enhances corrosion resistance but also resists fingerprints, smudges, and surface scratches, ensuring a pristine appearance over time. This enclosure is particularly well-suited for industries such as manufacturing, oil and gas, water treatment, telecommunications, and renewable energy, where equipment must operate reliably in challenging environments. Whether installed in a coastal facility exposed to salt spray, a chemical processing plant with corrosive fumes, or an outdoor telecom cabinet, the CSD20166SS delivers uncompromising protection. The Type 4X rating confirms its suitability for both indoor and outdoor use, including areas subject to hose-directed water, windblown dust, and extreme temperatures. Installation is straightforward, with pre-drilled mounting holes and a streamlined design that accommodates standard hardware. The flush quarter-turn latch eliminates protruding handles, reducing the risk of snagging or accidental opening while maintaining a clean, professional look. For added versatility, the enclosure can be paired with nVent’s range of compatible accessories, such as gland plates, mounting brackets, and ventilation solutions, to tailor the setup to specific operational needs. nVent, a global leader in electrical and thermal management solutions, has built a reputation for innovation and reliability across industries. With decades of experience in enclosure design, nVent’s Concept series reflects the company’s commitment to delivering products that meet the evolving demands of modern industrial applications. How to Install the CSD20166SS Wall-Mount Enclosure

Follow these instructions to properly mount and install your CSD20166SS wall-mount enclosure.

Estimated time: 1h

Tools needed:

Drill, Level, Measuring tape, Screwdriver, Wrench or socket set

Supplies needed:

Mounting hardware (screws, anchors, bolts), Gasket (if applicable), Sealing fittings (if applicable)

  1. Select Mounting Location

Choose a suitable location for the enclosure. Ensure the mounting surface is strong enough to support the weight of the enclosure and its contents. Consider environmental factors such as temperature, humidity, and potential exposure to corrosive elements. Refer to the datasheet for specific environmental ratings.

  2. Prepare the Enclosure

If necessary, install any required accessories such as internal mounting panels, gland plates, or door stops. Ensure the gasket is properly seated around the door flange for a watertight seal. If using sealing fittings for cable entry, install them according to their specific instructions.

  3. Mark Mounting Holes

Hold the enclosure in the desired position against the mounting surface. Use a level to ensure it is straight. Mark the locations for the mounting holes through the designated mounting points on the back of the enclosure or the internal mounting panel.

  4. Drill Mounting Holes

Remove the enclosure from the mounting surface. Drill the mounting holes at the marked locations. If mounting to a concrete or masonry surface, use appropriate masonry bits and install anchors. If mounting to a metal surface, ensure the holes are appropriately sized for the chosen fasteners.

  5. Mount the Enclosure

Position the enclosure over the drilled holes. Secure the enclosure to the mounting surface using appropriate hardware (screws, bolts, etc.). Ensure the enclosure is firmly attached and does not move. Use a wrench or socket set for tightening bolts as needed.

  6. Install Equipment and Wiring

Install any internal equipment according to its specific instructions. Route wiring through the appropriate conduit or cable entries, ensuring proper strain relief and sealing. Refer to the wiring diagrams provided with the equipment and the enclosure datasheet for guidance on wire management and sealing.

  7. Final Inspection

Close and latch the enclosure door securely. Verify that all seals are properly engaged and that the enclosure is watertight or weatherproof as required by its rating. Double-check that all mounting hardware is tight and that the installation is secure.
