Overview

Enhance safety and operational efficiency in industrial environments with the nVent Sequestr External Disconnect Package, SKU A84XD3EW24SSFTCLP. This robust 3-door Type 4X enclosure, constructed from high-quality 304 stainless steel, is engineered to significantly mitigate arc flash hazards when performing maintenance on interior enclosure components. By isolating incoming power externally, it allows technicians to work on sensitive internal equipment with a greatly reduced risk of electrical incidents. The Sequestr External Disconnect Package is designed for demanding applications where reliability and safety are paramount. Its primary function is to house the disconnect switch and fuse block or circuit breaker, effectively isolating the main power supply from the primary enclosure. This external mounting strategy ensures that personnel can safely de-energize the main enclosure without compromising the integrity of the overall system. The terminal connections are strategically routed to bring power to the main enclosure, streamlining installation and integration into existing electrical infrastructure. Manufactured by nVent, a trusted leader in electrical enclosure solutions, this package exemplifies durability and performance. The 304 stainless steel construction provides exceptional resistance to corrosion, making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor installations, even in environments exposed to non-corrosive or mildly corrosive elements. The brushed finish not only adds to its aesthetic appeal but also contributes to its resilience against wear and tear. This comprehensive package includes the main enclosure and a dedicated Sequestr box, offering a complete solution for arc flash mitigation. For facilities looking to upgrade existing enclosures, nVent also offers Sequestr boxes as standalone units, providing a flexible option for retrofitting. The generous dimensions of 84 inches in height, 118 inches in width, and 24 inches in depth accommodate a wide range of disconnect switch and fuse block configurations. Key benefits and features include: * **Arc Flash Hazard Mitigation:** Isolates incoming power externally, significantly reducing risks during interior maintenance. * **Durable 304 Stainless Steel Construction:** Offers superior corrosion resistance for indoor and outdoor applications. * **Type 4X Rating:** Provides robust protection against water and dust ingress. * **Comprehensive Package:** Includes main enclosure and Sequestr box for a complete safety solution. * **Retrofit Capability:** Sequestr boxes are available separately for upgrading existing installations. * **Trusted Manufacturer:** nVent is a globally recognized leader in electrical protection and connection solutions. How to Install the Sequestr External Disconnect Enclosure

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing the Sequestr external disconnect enclosure to a control enclosure, ensuring proper mounting, wiring, and initial setup.

Estimated time: 1h

Tools needed:

Screwdriver, Drill, Volt meter, Wire strippers

Supplies needed:

Mounting screws, Terminal connectors, Hoffman hole seal, Hoffman blank adapter plate

  1. Power Down the System

Turn off the local disconnect in the control enclosure and the feeder disconnect. Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and open the control enclosure.

  2. Prepare the Control Enclosure

Remove the existing disconnect from the control enclosure and seal the existing hole with a Hoffman hole seal. Cover all components in the control enclosure to protect them.

  3. Mount the Sequestr Enclosure

Remove the subpanel from the Sequestr enclosure. Hang the Sequestr enclosure on the control enclosure using M6x16mm bolts and secure it with washer head cap screws from inside the control enclosure.

  4. Install Circuit Breaker/Disconnect Switch

Drill mounting holes for the circuit breaker in the panel and install the device according to the manufacturer's instructions. Secure the panel into the Sequestr enclosure with hex nuts.

  5. Wire the Circuit Breaker

Install conduit and wires to the incoming side of the circuit breaker/disconnect switch in the Sequestr enclosure, ensuring all connections are secure.

  6. Power Up the System

Remove any protective coverings, ensure the operator handle is in the 'OFF' position, close and latch the Sequestr and control enclosure doors, then turn on the feeder disconnect switch and verify system operation.
