Overview

The nVent Sequestr Retrofit External Disconnect Enclosure (SKU: AXD24SS) is a Type 4X-rated stainless steel enclosure designed to isolate incoming power from main control enclosures, significantly reducing arc flash hazards during maintenance. Constructed from 14-gauge 304 stainless steel with a smooth #4 brushed finish, this enclosure provides superior corrosion resistance in harsh indoor and outdoor environments. It features a preferred disconnect cutout for mounting disconnect switches and fuse blocks/circuit breakers up to 200A, with a blank plate for customized power routing into the main enclosure. The enclosure interlocks with main enclosure doors when the disconnect switch is powered ON, preventing unauthorized access to live components. It includes a conductive back panel, quarter-turn slotted latches, a 3-point latching system, and removable door with hidden hinges. The AXD24SS measures 34.45 x 14.00 x 24.12 inches (875 x 356 x 613 mm) and is designed specifically to retrofit existing nVent A28S4 main enclosures. It meets UL 508A, cUL, NEMA, and IEC standards, ensuring compliance and reliability for critical infrastructure.

How to Install the Sequestr External Disconnect Enclosure

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing the Sequestr external disconnect enclosure to a control enclosure, ensuring proper mounting, wiring, and initial setup.

Estimated time: 1h

Tools needed:

Screwdriver, Drill, Volt meter, Wire strippers

Supplies needed:

Mounting screws, Terminal connectors, Hoffman hole seal, Hoffman blank adapter plate

  1. Power Down the System

Turn off the local disconnect in the control enclosure and the feeder disconnect. Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and open the control enclosure.

  2. Prepare the Control Enclosure

Remove the existing disconnect from the control enclosure and seal the existing hole with a Hoffman hole seal. Cover all components in the control enclosure to protect them.

  3. Mount the Sequestr Enclosure

Remove the subpanel from the Sequestr enclosure. Hang the Sequestr enclosure on the control enclosure using M6x16mm bolts and secure it with washer head cap screws from inside the control enclosure.

  4. Install Circuit Breaker/Disconnect Switch

Drill mounting holes for the circuit breaker in the panel and install the device according to the manufacturer's instructions. Secure the panel into the Sequestr enclosure with hex nuts.

  5. Wire the Circuit Breaker

Install conduit and wires to the incoming side of the circuit breaker/disconnect switch in the Sequestr enclosure, ensuring all connections are secure.

  6. Power Up the System

Remove any protective coverings, ensure the operator handle is in the 'OFF' position, close and latch the Sequestr and control enclosure doors, then turn on the feeder disconnect switch and verify system operation.
