Overview

The nVent Sequestr External Disconnect Package (SKU: A72XD3EW18SSFTCLP) is a premium 3-door Type 4X stainless steel enclosure designed to enhance electrical safety and operational efficiency in industrial environments. Engineered for seamless integration with existing power distribution systems, this external disconnect solution isolates incoming power from main enclosures, significantly reducing the risk of arc flash incidents when servicing internal components. Constructed from high-grade 304 stainless steel with a brushed finish, the enclosure delivers exceptional corrosion resistance against non-corrosive and mildly corrosive elements, making it ideal for both indoor and outdoor applications across diverse industries. This robust disconnect package includes a main enclosure paired with a Sequestr box, providing a complete solution for new installations or retrofitting existing systems. The Sequestr box can be purchased separately for applications requiring additional isolation points or upgrades to legacy enclosures. Inside the external enclosure, the disconnect switch and fuse block/circuit breaker are pre-mounted, with clearly labeled terminal connections to facilitate safe and efficient power routing to the main enclosure. The Type 4X rating ensures protection against windblown dust, rain, splashing water, and hose-directed liquids, ensuring reliable performance even in harsh operating conditions. Industries such as manufacturing plants, oil and gas facilities, water treatment centers, and renewable energy installations rely on nVent Sequestr enclosures to maintain compliance with stringent safety standards while optimizing maintenance workflows. The external disconnect design allows technicians to safely de-energize equipment before accessing internal components, minimizing downtime and reducing the risk of electrical hazards. Whether deployed in food processing plants, chemical refineries, or marine environments, the Sequestr External Disconnect Package delivers unmatched durability and operational reliability. Installation is streamlined thanks to the enclosure’s standardized dimensions (72x118x18 inches) and pre-drilled mounting points, compatible with most industrial panel configurations. The brushed stainless steel finish not only enhances corrosion resistance but also provides a professional appearance suitable for visible installations in cleanroom or controlled-environment settings. nVent’s reputation for engineering high-performance electrical solutions is underscored by the Sequestr line, which integrates seamlessly with other nVent products for comprehensive system solutions. For facilities prioritizing safety, longevity, and ease of maintenance, the nVent Sequestr External Disconnect Package (A72XD3EW18SSFTCLP) is the trusted choice. Its Type 4X certification, 304 stainless steel construction, and modular design make it a versatile solution for arc flash mitigation, power isolation, and system retrofits in demanding industrial applications.

How to Install the Sequestr External Disconnect Enclosure

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing the Sequestr external disconnect enclosure to a control enclosure, ensuring proper mounting, wiring, and initial setup.

Estimated time: 1h

Tools needed:

Screwdriver, Drill, Volt meter, Wire strippers

Supplies needed:

Mounting screws, Terminal connectors, Hoffman hole seal, Hoffman blank adapter plate

  1. Power Down the System

Turn off the local disconnect in the control enclosure and the feeder disconnect. Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and open the control enclosure.

  2. Prepare the Control Enclosure

Remove the existing disconnect from the control enclosure and seal the existing hole with a Hoffman hole seal. Cover all components in the control enclosure to protect them.

  3. Mount the Sequestr Enclosure

Remove the subpanel from the Sequestr enclosure. Hang the Sequestr enclosure on the control enclosure using M6x16mm bolts and secure it with washer head cap screws from inside the control enclosure.

  4. Install Circuit Breaker/Disconnect Switch

Drill mounting holes for the circuit breaker in the panel and install the device according to the manufacturer's instructions. Secure the panel into the Sequestr enclosure with hex nuts.

  5. Wire the Circuit Breaker

Install conduit and wires to the incoming side of the circuit breaker/disconnect switch in the Sequestr enclosure, ensuring all connections are secure.

  6. Power Up the System

Remove any protective coverings, ensure the operator handle is in the 'OFF' position, close and latch the Sequestr and control enclosure doors, then turn on the feeder disconnect switch and verify system operation.
