Overview

Introducing the nVent HOFFMAN A48H3616SSLP3PTW Type 4X single-door enclosure, a premium stainless steel solution engineered for uncompromising protection in the most demanding industrial environments. Designed to house critical electrical components and control systems, this robust enclosure delivers superior defense against corrosion, moisture ingress, and extreme weather conditions, making it ideal for outdoor installations or corrosive indoor applications. Constructed from high-grade 304 stainless steel, the A48H3616SSLP3PTW combines durability with a sleek white polyester powder-coated finish that minimizes solar heat absorption, ensuring internal components operate at optimal temperatures even under intense sunlight. This thermal management benefit is particularly valuable in applications where heat dissipation is critical to system reliability. The enclosure features a single-door design with an exclusive Type 316L stainless steel PowerGlide padlocking handle, providing both security and ease of access. The integrated 3-point latching system enhances structural integrity by distributing locking forces evenly across the door, reducing the risk of tampering or unauthorized entry. This design is particularly advantageous in industrial facilities where equipment security is paramount, including manufacturing plants, chemical processing sites, and wastewater treatment plants where regulatory compliance and operational safety are top priorities. Industry professionals trust nVent HOFFMAN enclosures for their proven performance in harsh environments. The Type 4X rating ensures protection against windblown dust, rain, splashing water, and hose-directed water, meeting stringent NEMA and IP standards. The 48x36x16 inch dimensions offer ample internal space for complex control panels, variable frequency drives, or other sensitive electronics, while the wall-mount design simplifies installation in both new construction and retrofit projects. The white finish not only enhances heat resistance but also improves visibility in low-light conditions, making maintenance and inspections more efficient. Typical applications for the A48H3616SSLP3PTW include outdoor telecommunications hubs, solar power installations, marine environments, and industrial automation systems where exposure to salt spray, humidity, or chemical vapors is common. The enclosure's corrosion-resistant construction and secure latching mechanism make it a preferred choice for engineers specifying equipment for the oil and gas sector, food and beverage processing, or pharmaceutical manufacturing—industries where hygiene, safety, and regulatory compliance are non-negotiable. Selecting the right enclosure for your application requires balancing environmental challenges with operational needs. The nVent HOFFMAN A48H3616SSLP3PTW addresses these requirements with a product that has been field-tested in some of the world's most extreme conditions. Its stainless steel construction resists pitting and crevice corrosion, while the powder-coated finish provides an additional layer of protection against UV degradation. The 3-point latch system ensures a tight seal, preventing contaminants from compromising internal components, and the padlocking handle offers flexibility in access control without sacrificing security. For professionals tasked with designing or upgrading electrical infrastructure, the A48H3616SSLP3PTW represents a smart investment in reliability and longevity. Its compliance with Type 4X standards means it can withstand prolonged exposure to the elements without degradation, reducing the need for frequent replacements or maintenance. Whether deployed in a coastal refinery, a remote telecom site, or a food processing facility, this enclosure delivers the performance and protection that industrial operators demand. Trusted by engineers and facility managers worldwide, nVent HOFFMAN enclosures are a testament to the company's legacy of innovation in electrical protection solutions.

How to Install the A48H3616SSLP3PTW Enclosure

Instructions for mounting and adjusting the A48H3616SSLP3PTW enclosure, including door and panel installation.

Estimated time: 1h

Tools needed:

Screwdriver, Punch, Vibrating hammer (electric or air powered)

Supplies needed:

Fasteners, Metal shims, Hinge pin

  1. Prepare for Mounting

Identify whether the enclosure is wall-mounted or floor-mounted. Wall-mounted enclosures have internal mounting means or external feet. Floor-mounted enclosures have floor stands with mounting plates. Ensure you have the proper fasteners for your chosen mounting method.

  2. Mount the Enclosure

Secure the enclosure to the wall or floor using the appropriate fasteners in all mounting holes. For floor-mounted enclosures, ensure the floor is level or use shims under the enclosure corners as needed. For wall-mounted enclosures, ensure the mounting surface is flat to prevent door issues.

  3. Adjust Door Closing (if necessary)

If the door does not open and close properly, or if it sags due to heavy equipment, adjust as follows: For single-door enclosures, place metal shims behind the bottom mounting foot closest to the hinge if the top of the door strikes the body opening lip. For two-door enclosures, place metal shims under the corners if the floor is not level, ensuring the doors meet evenly. Bolt the enclosure in place with doors closed before installing shims.

  4. Install the Interior Panel

When installing the interior panel, you may need to slightly bend mounting studs to align the panel. Position the panel on the studs that line up, then use a screwdriver inserted through the panel holes to pry the remaining studs into place.

  5. Remove or Invert Print Pocket

The print pocket on the door can be inverted or removed entirely as needed.

  6. Install Hubs and Devices

Use agency Type rated hubs or devices of equal rating to the enclosure. Ensure hole openings and installation follow manufacturer instructions. Verify adequate hole-to-hole spacing for tightening and that installation does not interfere with the enclosure's gasket or edges. Conduit connections should be on the top, bottom, and sides.
