Overview

The **nVent Type 4 Continuous Hinge Enclosure with Clamps (SKU: A48H30CLP)** is a rugged, single-door industrial enclosure designed for demanding indoor and outdoor applications where environmental protection and secure access are critical. Engineered by nVent, a global leader in thermal management and electrical protection solutions, this enclosure combines durable construction with advanced sealing technology to safeguard sensitive electronics, controls, and instrumentation from dust, water, and corrosion. With its **48x30x10 inch** footprint and **gray polyester powder-coated mild steel** construction, the A48H30CLP is ideal for facilities requiring NEMA Type 4-rated protection in harsh operating conditions. This **continuous hinge enclosure** features a full-length hinge for smooth, reliable door operation, while **three-sided clamp latches** ensure a tight, uniform seal across the door perimeter. The **gray polyester powder finish**—applied both inside and out—provides superior corrosion resistance, making it suitable for coastal, chemical, or high-humidity environments. Unlike traditional enclosures with discrete hinges or gaskets, the continuous hinge design minimizes stress points and enhances long-term durability, reducing maintenance costs and downtime. **Key applications** for the nVent A48H30CLP include: - **Industrial automation & control panels**: Housing PLCs, HMIs, and motor controllers in manufacturing plants, food processing, or pharmaceutical facilities. - **Outdoor electrical enclosures**: Protecting junction boxes, circuit breakers, or telecom equipment in utility substations, solar farms, or water treatment plants. - **Oil & gas & chemical processing**: Safeguarding instrumentation in refineries, petrochemical plants, or offshore platforms where NEMA Type 4 compliance is mandatory. - **Transportation & infrastructure**: Securing traffic control systems, railway signaling, or highway lighting in exposed or high-vibration locations. - **Data centers & telecom**: Shielding networking equipment in server rooms or cell tower sites where environmental ingress could disrupt operations. Professionals select the **A48H30CLP** for its **superior sealing performance**, **ease of installation**, and **compatibility with nVent’s extensive accessory line**, including gland plates, mounting kits, and ventilation solutions. The **mild steel construction** ensures structural integrity under heavy loads, while the **powder-coated finish** resists chipping, fading, or chemical degradation over time. Installation is straightforward, with pre-drilled holes for wall or floor mounting and ample internal space for cable management and component organization. nVent’s reputation for innovation and reliability makes the **A48H30CLP** a trusted choice among engineers and facility managers. With a **US-made** design and adherence to **NEMA Type 4** standards, this enclosure delivers uncompromising protection without sacrificing accessibility or longevity. Whether upgrading existing infrastructure or designing new systems, the **nVent Type 4 Continuous Hinge Enclosure** provides a cost-effective, high-performance solution for protecting critical assets in even the most challenging environments.

How to Install the A48H30CLP Enclosure

Instructions for mounting and adjusting the A48H30CLP enclosure, including door and panel installation.

Estimated time: 1h

Tools needed:

Screwdriver, Punch, Vibrating hammer (electric or air powered)

Supplies needed:

Fasteners, Metal shims, Hinge pin

  1. Prepare for Mounting

Identify whether the enclosure is wall-mounted or floor-mounted. Wall-mounted enclosures have internal mounting means or external feet. Floor-mounted enclosures have floor stands with mounting plates. Ensure you have the proper fasteners for your chosen mounting method.

  2. Mount the Enclosure

Secure the enclosure to the wall or floor using the appropriate fasteners in all mounting holes. For floor-mounted enclosures, ensure the floor is level or use shims under the enclosure corners as needed. For wall-mounted enclosures, ensure the mounting surface is flat to prevent door issues.

  3. Adjust Door Closing (if necessary)

If the door does not open and close properly, or if it sags due to heavy equipment, adjust as follows: For single-door enclosures, place metal shims behind the bottom mounting foot closest to the hinge if the top of the door strikes the body opening lip. For two-door enclosures, place metal shims under the corners if the floor is not level, ensuring the doors meet evenly. Bolt the enclosure in place with doors closed before installing shims.

  4. Install the Interior Panel

When installing the interior panel, you may need to slightly bend mounting studs to align the panel. Position the panel on the studs that line up, then use a screwdriver inserted through the panel holes to pry the remaining studs into place.

  5. Remove or Invert Print Pocket

The print pocket on the door can be inverted or removed entirely as needed.

  6. Install Hubs and Devices

Use agency Type rated hubs or devices of equal rating to the enclosure. Ensure hole openings and installation follow manufacturer instructions. Verify adequate hole-to-hole spacing for tightening and that installation does not interfere with the enclosure's gasket or edges. Conduit connections should be on the top, bottom, and sides.
