How to Install the WME6WH-FKIT Vertical Wall Mount Enclosure

Supplies needed:
3/8" lag screws and washers, M6 nuts, PEM studs, Conduit, Grounding cable, Bonding jumpers, #10-32 bonding nuts, #12-24 screws, M4 flange nuts, Mounting screws
- Prepare the Mounting Location
Inspect the desired mounting wall to ensure it is flat and has sufficient strength to support the enclosure. The wall surface must extend beyond the back panel of the enclosure. If the wall is not flat, use shims as needed.
- Disassemble Enclosure for Mounting
Remove the door, top lid, bottom plate, and both vertical bracket assemblies from the enclosure to facilitate easier installation.
- Locate Wall Studs and Determine Mounting Height
Locate wall studs (typically 16" on center). Panduit recommends mounting the top of the enclosure at 6' from the floor, ensuring at least 4" clearance on the sides and 10" clearance from the bottom. Ensure adequate airflow clearance.
- Mount the Enclosure to the Wall
Mount the enclosure to the wall studs using six 3/8" lag screws and washers. Ensure screws penetrate wood studs at least 1.5" through the wall material. Reinstall vertical bracket assemblies and the bottom plate, torquing M6 nuts to 7.3 ± 0.6 N-m (65.0 ± 5.0 in-lbs).
- Install Electrical Box (if applicable)
Determine if the electrical box will be mounted inside or outside the enclosure. If inside, remove the appropriate knockout, mount the box using PEM studs, and run conduit. If outside, remove the side knockout, mount the box, and run conduit along the outside.
- Reverse Door and Handle (if needed)
Remove the door by lifting it off the hinge pins. Remove hinges and the door latch. Re-install them on the opposite side. Remove and re-attach the door handle, adjusting the cam lock and cam stop as necessary. Re-hang the door and attach the handle.
- Ground the Enclosure
Run a grounding cable from the Telecommunications Grounding Busbar or conduit ground conductor to the enclosure. Attach it to the M6 grounding stud on the enclosure base. Ensure the grounding conductor gauge meets or exceeds the power delivery requirements. Do not attach other conductors to this stud.
- Bond the Door and Lid
Use the WMEGK grounding kit (sold separately) to bond the door and lid to the enclosure. Attach each end of the bonding jumper to the specified #10-32 bonding studs using the provided green nuts.
- Install Equipment Grounding Bracket (if needed)
If using the PZAEGK kit, install the four-lug grounding bracket onto the specified #10-32 bonding studs. Attach equipment bonding jumpers (not included) to each location with the provided #12-24 screws and torque to 4 N-m (3 lb.-ft).
- Terminate Backbone Cable
Route the backbone cable into the enclosure. Terminate the cable to the appropriate fiber or copper module. Place the module(s) in a MINI-COM Six Position Multi-Media Surface Mount Box or a Panduit ZFLEX1 or FLEX-0RU-BR06 fiber cassette bracket, securing it to the back wall of the enclosure.
- Install Fan Kit (if required)
Determine the required airflow (CFM) based on equipment heat dissipation. Choose a fan location aligning with active equipment. Break out the vent space, attach the fan and guards, ensuring downward airflow. Connect the power cable and ground wire lug.
- Install Patch Panels and Cables
Ensure all RU brackets are secured with M5 bonding screws. Route horizontal cables into the enclosure using conduit, raceway, or breakouts. Use the supplied edge grommet to protect cables. Install patch panels to the Passive E-rails from the bottom. Secure cables to the back wall using the supplied TAK-T Y.
- Install Active Network Equipment
Insert TAK-TYS into active equipment cable tie slots. For down-facing PDU mounting, install additional E-Rails. Install active network equipment with ports facing up. Plug power into the electrical box or UPS. Connect the uplink port to the backbone demarcation port with a patch cord.
- Configure Servers and Switches
Ensure all RU brackets are secured with M5 bonding screws. Mount PDU in the rear-most RU on the lowest E-rails facing down. Mount servers on the highest E-rails. Mount switches on the middle E-rails. Mount patch panels to zero RU brackets. Connect patch cords from the outside of the patch panel inwards.
- Install Air Filter Media (if applicable)
Attach the filter media to the hook & loop on the inside of the Air Filter Cover. Unroll and secure the media. Align the cover's studs with the media and press through. Slide the cover over the Top Lid, align threaded inserts, and secure with #10-32 screws and M4 flange nuts.
- Install Brushed Entry Kit (if applicable)
Remove conduit KO plates from the top of the enclosure. Insert the WMEBR brush plates from the inside with the brush side facing down. Attach the plates using M4 screws from the outside of the enclosure.
