How to Install the Panduit UVPL50H 1-3kVA Lithium External Battery Pack
This guide provides instructions for safely mounting the Panduit UVPL50H 1-3kVA Lithium External Battery Pack in a four-post rack and making the necessary electrical connections to an associated UPS unit.

Supplies needed:
URMKIT2 rail kit, M5 Phillips Pan Head screws, M5 cage nuts, Battery connection cables
- Prepare for Installation and Rack Mounting
Ensure the installation environment meets the specified operating parameters: temperature 0-40°C, humidity 20-90% RH (non-condensing), and altitude 1000m or lower for no derating. If the unit has been moved from a cold to a warm environment, allow at least two hours for it to acclimatize and be free of moisture. Due to the unit's weight (30 kg / 66.1 lbs), use a minimum of two people or a lift for safe handling. It is recommended to mount the EBP unit near the bottom of the rack, directly below the associated UPS unit, to facilitate wiring with provided cables.
- Install the Rack Mounting Rails
Install the front side of the URMKIT2 rail kit (or equivalent 2U rail kit) into the four-post rack using 3x Phillips Pan Head M5 screws on each rail. Do not fully tighten these screws yet. Adjust the rail size to match the depth of your rack. Then, install the rear side of each rail using 3x Phillips Pan Head M5 screws. Once both front and rear sides are in place, tighten all 12 screws to securely fasten the left and right rails to the rack.
- Mount the UVPL50H EBP Unit
Install 4x M5 cage nuts into the rack's front equipment rail. Place one cage nut in the first location below the bottom rail kit screw and one in the first location above the top rail kit screw on both the left and right sides. Carefully slide the UVPL50H EBP unit onto the installed rails. Secure the EBP unit to the rack front using 4x Phillips Pan Head M5 screws, aligning them with the previously installed cage nuts.
- Make Electrical Connections
WARNING: Ensure source power is off and locked out before making any electrical connections. Check for hazardous voltages between terminals before wiring. Properly ground all units in the UPS system, including the UVPL50H EBP, before applying power. Refer to Appendix P of the full manual for ground screw location and recommended grounding setup. Connect the UVPL50H EBP to the associated UPS unit using the provided battery connection cables. Ensure correct polarity when connecting the battery cables. Refer to Section 4 of the full manual for specific wiring diagrams for your UPS and EBP model.
