Category 6A/Class EA cable shall be constructed of 23 AWG copper conductors with Foam PE and HDPE insulation. The copper conductors shall be twisted in pairs and separated by a tape-style divider. All four pairs shall be surrounded by a metallic Vari-MaTriX tape and a flame retardant jacket. The Vari-MaTriX tape shall minimize the cable diameter and suppress the effects of alien crosstalk while retaining UTP electromagnetic interference immunity.Frequently Asked Questions

How to Install Panduit Shielded Keystone Jack Modules (SKJ6X88GR)
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for preparing shielded data cable and terminating it into Panduit Shielded Keystone Jack Modules. Always use caution when installing or modifying communication wiring. Never install during a lightning storm or in wet locations unless the jack is designed for it.
Estimated time: 15m
Tools needed:
PDT110 Tool, Wire strippers
Supplies needed:
Shielded Keystone Jack Module, Shielded data cable
- Prepare the Cable
Strip 2.00 inches (50.8mm) of the outer jacket from the shielded data cable. For S/FTP, U/FTP, and SF/UTP cables, split and twist the braid, then fold the individual foil pair screens. For F/UTP cables, fold the overall foil screen. Ensure the conductive side of the foil faces outward on all sides.
- Orient the Jack and Select Wiring Scheme
Orient the shielded keystone jack module as shown in the diagram, ensuring the notch and label are correctly positioned. Select either the T568A or T568B wiring scheme for termination.
- Insert Conductors into IDC Towers
Carefully insert the individual conductors into the appropriate Insulation Displacement Contact (IDC) towers according to your chosen T568A or T568B wiring scheme. Do not untwist the pairs more than 1/8 inch (3.2mm) from the IDC tower.
- Terminate Conductors
Use the PDT110 termination tool to firmly seat and terminate the conductors into the IDC towers. The tool will simultaneously trim any excess wire, ensuring a clean and secure connection.
- Manage F/UTP Shielding
If using F/UTP cable, wrap the overall foil screen and drain wire to the outside of the jack module as shown. Cut the foil and drain wire to the appropriate length, ensuring proper contact for grounding.
- Manage S/FTP and SF/UTP Shielding
If using S/FTP or SF/UTP cable, wrap the overall braid to the outside of the jack module as shown. Cut the braid to the appropriate length, ensuring proper contact for grounding.
- Finalize Jack Assembly
Depress the latch on the jack module and gently tilt out the puck, if present, to complete the termination process and ensure the jack is ready for installation into a faceplate or patch panel.
