How to Install the Panduit FMPS Transmitter Chassis (PXTC1ARA)
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for the safe and proper installation, grounding, and mounting of the Panduit FMPS Transmitter Chassis (PXTC1ARA) in a rack or cabinet, including power supply installation.
Estimated time: 1h 30m
Tools needed:
Screwdrivers (#2 Phillips, #3 Phillips, & Slotted), Wire stripper, Wrenches and/or pliers, Wire cutters, Compression crimp tools, Multimeter, Cable management materials (e.g., Pan-Ty cable ties), Panduit Ferrules (FSD78-6-D for 16AWG, FSD76-6-D for 18AWG), Suitable labeling means (e.g., Panduit MP300 label maker)
Supplies needed:
Field wiring, Copper patch wire, Receiver grounding wire (6 AWG), Alternative mounting screws (if mounting to a cabinet), Strain relief bar (e.g., Panduit P/N SRB19D7BL or SRB19D5BL) or shelf (e.g., Panduit P/N SRM19FM2) for 4-post rack/cabinet flush mount
- Review Safety Information
Always follow safety and lockout/tagout procedures when working on or near electrical systems and equipment. This product must be installed by a skilled person. Ensure the Transmitter Chassis is correctly installed and grounded. Comply with local installation codes and standards. Do not use outside specified performance limits. Verify proper functioning after installation and address any fault conditions.
- Prepare Site and Verify Components
Ensure the site-specific Project Package is available, including details of Transmitter Chassis and Receiver allocations, and cabling specifications. Verify that all part numbers specified in the Project Package are available on-site. Check for adequate Rack Unit (RU) space to mount the Panduit FMPS Transmitter Chassis. Confirm proper Class 4 Cable type and size has been pulled between the head end and Receiver locations. Ensure the Transmitter Chassis or rack PDU are within 50 feet of properly sized AC mains connections and/or breaker panels.
- Ground the Transmitter Chassis
Verify that the rack has appropriate grounding to Earth-ground before proceeding, as proper grounding is critical for FMPS operation. Use the grounding screw (Panduit P/N RGTBSG-C) provided with the Panduit FMPS Transmitter Chassis to properly ground the chassis to the rack.
- Mount the Transmitter Chassis to a 2-post rack
Install the side brackets at position B (recommended) or position C, ensuring the bracket is pushed all the way in as far back as possible. Mount the Transmitter Chassis to the rack using the three rack mounting screws (Panduit P/N S1224-C) and one grounding screw (Panduit P/N RGTBSG-C) provided. Refer to the 'Grounding the Panduit FMPS Transmitter Chassis' section for grounding details.
- Mount the Transmitter Chassis to a 4-post rack or cabinet (Flush Mount)
For a flush mount, install the side brackets in position A. It is required to use a strain relief bar (e.g., Panduit P/N SRB19D7BL or SRB19D5BL) or a shelf (e.g., Panduit P/N SRM19FM2) in the back of the rack or cabinet to support the back of the chassis. Install the strain relief bar or shelf in the back posts of the rack/cabinet. Mount the chassis to the 4-post rack using the provided rack screws and the grounding screw. The 4-post rack or cabinet must be less than 26” deep. Refer to the 'Grounding the Panduit FMPS Transmitter Chassis' section for grounding details.
- Install Power Supply Module(s)
Insert the Power Supply Module (PXU1AJANNNXX) into an empty slot in the back of the Panduit FMPS Transmitter Chassis and slide it forward until it clicks. Gently pull the handle to verify engagement of latches. If installing additional Power Supply Modules, first remove the Power Supply blanking panel and then repeat the insertion step. Ensure no blockages are in front of the dual fans to allow for proper airflow through the fans.
- Connect Input Power (Do NOT apply power yet)
Connect the Power Supply Module to an existing wiring device (outlet) utilizing a power cord with an IEC 60230 C-19 connector on one end. Ensure PDU outputs and/or power cords will not be supplying power until the complete system hardware installation is finished. Verify PDU outlet compatibility with the C-19 to C-20 power cord supplied with the Power Supply Module. Ensure PDU outlets have correctly sized circuit breakers (e.g., single phase 208 VAC, 10 Amp minimum for one supply, 20 Amps minimum for two on the same phase).
