Overview

The Panduit LCAF6-10F-L is a one-hole compression lug designed for reliable electrical connections. This lug features a flared barrel entry, facilitating easier insertion of stranded copper conductors and preventing bent-back strands. It is engineered for use with #6 AWG stranded copper conductors and accommodates a #10 stud hole for secure mounting. The 90° angle tongue is specifically designed for applications with limited space, allowing for efficient connection in confined areas. Constructed from tin-plated copper, this lug inhibits corrosion. It is UL Listed and CSA Certified for applications up to 600V and temperature rated to 90°C when crimped with appropriate Panduit tools and dies. The Panduit LCAF6-10F-L is suitable for use with flexible conductor classes K, M, and Diesel Locomotive. Its color-coded barrel is marked with Panduit die index numbers for proper crimp die selection. An inspection window allows for visual confirmation of full conductor insertion. Manufactured in the USA, this lug is a dependable choice for power distribution, control panels, and other industrial electrical infrastructure needs.

How to Install Copper Compression Connectors

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing copper compression connectors safely and effectively.

Estimated time: 30m

Tools needed:

Wire strippers, Crimping tool, Heat gun or propane torch

Supplies needed:

Copper compression connectors, Heat shrink tubing

  1. Select the correct connector

Choose a connector that is marked for the wire size and material you are using. Ensure you do not use a copper connector on aluminum wire.

  2. Prepare the wire

Strip the wire insulation to the approximate length indicated on the tool chart. Avoid nicking or damaging the conductor strands.

  3. Insert and crimp the connector

Insert the stripped wire into the connector until it stops. Use the appropriate crimping tool to crimp the connector between the color bands or knurl markings, ensuring you follow the required number of compressions.

  4. Inspect the crimp

After crimping, inspect the connector for any sharp edges, flash, or burrs and remove them if present.

  5. Prepare heat shrink tubing

Cut the heat shrink tubing to the desired length, allowing for at least 1.5 inches of overlap on the wire insulation.

  6. Apply heat shrink tubing

Position the heat shrink tubing over the crimped connector and shrink it using a heat gun or propane torch, moving from the crimped portion toward the insulated wire. Ensure adhesive flow at the ends indicates that shrinkage is complete.
