How to Replace the Gripper Housing Assembly in the KPTSG Tool
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for replacing the gripper housing assembly in the KPTSG tool to restore its performance.

Tools needed:
Phillips screwdriver, 5/16” open-end wrench, Brass jaw vise
Supplies needed:
Gripper Housing Assembly, Screw, Removable Threadlocker, PVC Tubing
- Disconnect the air source
Always disconnect the air source from the tool before disassembly to ensure safety.
- Remove the housing cover
Flip the selector knob to the MIN setting, turn it counterclockwise until it loosens, and remove the screw from the back end of the tool. Place the tool face down on a table and remove the three housing screws using a Phillips screwdriver to lift off the housing cover.
- Remove the old gripper housing
Carefully lift out the lever arm and cylinder/link plate assembly. Slide the PVC tubing over the gripper housing assembly and onto the cylinder shaft. Grip the cylinder shaft in a brass jaw vise and unscrew the gripper housing assembly using a 5/16” open-end wrench.
- Install the new gripper housing
Apply Removable Threadlocker on the threads of the new gripper housing assembly. Tighten the new assembly onto the cylinder shaft and remove it from the vise. Discard the PVC tubing.
- Reassemble the tool
Position the cylinder/link plate assembly back into the tool, install the trigger link pin, and the lever arm pivot pin. Replace the housing cover and fasten it using the three housing screws until snug.
- Final adjustments
Replace the screw at the back end of the tool and readjust the tool tension to the desired setting.
