Panduit pin retraction tool

Supplies needed:

Heat shrink, Electrical tape, Expandable sleeve, Nylon ripcord

  1. Remove the outer housing

    Squeeze both sides of the outer housing at the back end evenly until you hear an audible click. Pull the outer housing off the connector.

  2. Change polarity

    Rotate the outer housing 180° so the arc cut-out is on the opposite side. Re-install the outer housing until you hear a faint audible click.

  3. Change gender

    Locate the hole in the inner housing on the slotted side and position the pin retraction tool over the hole. Insert the tool into the hole, press down gently, and push forward to advance connector pins to the male state. Repeat the process in the opposite direction to retract pins for the female state.

  4. Prepare for installation

    Close the loop on the nylon ripcord and pull the loop through the slot in the heat shrink towards the front of the assembly. Remove the heat shrink and unwrap any electrical tape if present.

  5. Finalize assembly

    Slide the expandable sleeve over the split loom tube containing the connectors and carefully remove the split loom tube.
