- Prepare the cable
Using a sheath knife, ring the circumference of the cable jacket at the designated distance (typically six to eight inches from the end). Gently flex the cable at the cut to separate and remove the outer jacket.
- Install the pulling grip
Select the appropriate size pulling grip based on the cable diameter. Inspect the grip for damage, then place it over the cable end, ensuring it is tight and secure. Use needle nose pliers to pull the ripcord back to the predetermined ring cut.
- Strip the fiber
Using an approved stripping tool, carefully strip the tight-buffered coating from the fiber, removing no more than two inches at a time. Ensure to hold the fiber under tension to avoid tight bends that could damage it.
