Overview

The Panduit FHSXN-12-10N 6-Port HD Flex LC Splice/FAP cassette is a high-density fiber optic management solution designed for efficient splicing and termination in data centers, enterprise networks, and industrial environments. This cassette features six duplex LC multimode adapters with aqua color-coding and zirconia sleeves, ensuring optimal signal integrity and low insertion loss for OM3/OM4 multimode fiber applications. The modular design integrates seamlessly with Panduit’s Specification Grade Enclosures, providing up to 24 fiber capacity per cassette and maximizing rack space utilization. Key features include a reusable, upgradeable design that protects vulnerable optical fibers from dust and physical damage during routine maintenance. The cassette includes integrated cable management to maintain proper bend radius and prevent signal degradation, while splice holders and protectors secure fusion splices for long-term reliability. The FHSXN-12-10N is compatible with 250/900µm buffered fiber (BF) and supports high-speed data rates up to 10G/40G/100G, making it ideal for migration-ready networks. Note: LC pigtails are not included and must be ordered separately. Applications include data center interconnects, LAN/WAN backbones, campus cabling, and industrial automation systems requiring high-density, low-latency fiber connectivity. The cassette’s compact form factor and tool-less installation simplify deployment in tight spaces, while its durable construction ensures consistent performance in demanding environments. Pair with Panduit’s AFR-00389 or AFR-00390 connector kits for complete multimode OM3/OM4 solutions.

How to Install the FHSXN-12-10N HD Flex LC Splice Cassette and Fiber Adapter Panel (FAP)

Installation guide for mounting and wiring the FHSXN-12-10N HD Flex LC Splice Cassette and Fiber Adapter Panel (FAP).

Estimated time: 30m

Tools needed:

Screwdriver, Lint-free tissue, Isopropyl alcohol

Supplies needed:

Pan-Ty Cable Ties, Splice sleeves

  1. Prepare the incoming field cable

Strip the outer jacket of the incoming field cable by 20 inches. Secure the cable with Pan-Ty Cable Ties and Kevlar with a screw if applicable. The maximum cable diameter is 7.4mm.

  2. Prepare fibers for splicing

Expose all fiber ends for splicing. Slide a splice sleeve onto either the pigtail or field fiber. Strip approximately 35mm of coating from each fiber. Wipe the bare fiber with a lint-free tissue soaked with isopropyl alcohol. Cleave the fiber so that 10mm of bare fiber extends past the fiber coating.

  3. Splice and route fibers

Splice all fibers and heat the splice sleeve(s) according to the splicer manufacturer's instructions. Route the spliced fibers into the cassette, ensuring they are located under the routing tabs. Secure the splice sleeves within the splice organizer.

  4. Install patch cords and close cassette

Remove the cover and internal dust caps from the cassette. Install patch cords and route cables as shown in Figure 2. Re-install the cover.
