How to Install a Panduit EL2P Power Distribution Unit (PDU)
This guide provides instructions for qualified personnel to safely install a Panduit EL2P PDU into a datacenter rack or cabinet, including mounting, grounding, and initial power connection.

#2 Phillips screwdriver, T10 Torx screwdriver, T20 Torx screwdriver, 2.5mm hex key Allen wrench
Supplies needed:
Mounting hardware, Ground bonding cable, Star washer
- Mount the PDU in the Rack
Mount the Panduit EL2P PDU into the datacenter rack or cabinet. For vertical (0U) PDUs, insert the pre-installed mounting buttons into the rack's keyhole slots and secure them using a #2 Phillips screwdriver to a torque of 3.0Nm. For horizontal (1U/2U) PDUs, install cage nuts at the desired U location on the rack rails, then attach the PDU's mounting bracket ears to the rails with screws. If installing a high-power horizontal PDU, use a 2.5mm hex key Allen wrench to secure the front mounting brackets to the PDU chassis.
- Ground the PDU
Connect a ground bonding cable to the external earthing screw located on the PDU chassis. Use the provided star washer. Bond the PDU to a grounding strip or bus bar within the rack, or to a known earthed reference terminal in the building, ensuring compliance with national and local electrical codes.
- Connect the PDU to a Power Source
Before connecting, turn OFF the feed circuit breaker for the power source. Ensure all circuit breakers on the PDU are set to the ON position. Connect the PDU's input power cord to an appropriately rated branch circuit, adhering to all local and national electrical codes. After connection, turn ON the feed circuit breaker and allow the PDU's operating system to load until the Main Menu displays.
- Rotate or Replace the Network Controller (Optional)
If desired, rotate or replace the network control module. Using a T10 Torx screwdriver, remove the two retaining screws. Carefully disconnect the ribbon cable before rotating the controller to prevent damage. After rotating or replacing, carefully reconnect the ribbon cable, ensuring correct orientation and avoiding pinching, then re-secure the controller with the two screws, torquing them to 2.2–3.1 lbf-in [0.25–0.35 N-M].
