How to Install a Panduit EL2P PDU
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for qualified personnel to install a Panduit Rack Power Distribution Unit (PDU) into a datacenter rack or cabinet, covering mounting, grounding, and power connection.

#2 Phillips screwdriver, 2.5mm hex key Allen wrench, T10 Torx screwdriver

Cage nuts, Mounting screws, Ground bonding cable
- Mount the PDU to the Rack
Secure the PDU to the datacenter rack or cabinet. For vertical PDUs, insert the pre-installed mounting buttons into the rack's keyhole slots and tighten with a #2 Phillips screwdriver to a recommended torque of 3.0Nm. For horizontal PDUs, install cage nuts at the desired U location(s) on the rack's RETMA rails and screw the mounting bracket ears into the rack rails. High-power horizontal PDUs may require front and rear rail mounting and a 2.5mm hex key Allen wrench for securing front brackets. Ensure proper clearance of 2 to 3 inches for airflow.
- Connect the Ground Bonding Cable
Connect a ground bonding cable to the external ground bonding point on the PDU chassis. Bond the PDU to a grounding strip or bus bar in the rack, ensuring the conductor size meets national or local electrical codes. This connection provides supplementary Earth bonding and is critical to reduce the risk of electric shock due to high leakage currents.
- Connect the PDU to a Power Source
Before connecting, ensure the feed circuit breaker is OFF and all circuit breakers on the PDU are ON. Connect the PDU's input power cord to an appropriately rated branch circuit, adhering to all local and national electrical codes. Verify the PDU's voltage capability matches the line voltage. Once connected, turn the feed circuit breaker ON and wait for the operating system to load and the Main Menu to display on the screen.
- Rotate Network Controller (Optional)
If a specific orientation for the network controller is desired, use a T10 Torx screwdriver to remove the two retaining screws. Disconnect the ribbon cable, rotate the controller, then carefully reconnect the ribbon cable, avoiding crimping or pinching. Re-secure the screws to a torque range of 2.2–3.1 lbf-in [0.25–0.35 N-M].
