Overview

The Hammond Manufacturing 1590Z Series 1590Z140 is a heavy-duty, die-cast aluminum electronic instrument enclosure designed for robust protection in demanding environments. This enclosure features thick walls and a lap joint construction, providing excellent protection against dust and splashing water, while also offering improved EMI/RFI shielding. Its vibra-finished surface ensures a smooth finish with no sharp edges, enhancing user safety and handling. The enclosure is designed to meet IP68 and NEMA 4, 4X, 6, 6P, 12 & 13 ratings, making it suitable for applications requiring superior ingress protection against water and dust, as well as corrosion resistance. The low side wall draft angle (2 degrees or less) facilitates easy PC board mounting. The lid is secured by four M3.5 x 0.6 x 12 mm stainless steel, Philips head machine screws that thread into factory-tapped holes. These lid screws are located outside the gasket protection area, eliminating the need for O-rings on the screws. The 1590Z140 measures 80mm in height, 250mm in width, and 55mm in depth (less lid), with external dimensions of 9.85 x 3.13 x 2.24 inches. This enclosure is an economical yet durable solution for housing sensitive electronic instruments, control systems, and other equipment requiring reliable environmental protection. Its rugged diecast aluminum alloy construction is tough yet easy to machine for custom modifications. The two-piece "tongue & groove" construction further enhances its watertight capabilities.
