What is the IP69K rating?
IP69K is the highest standard on the Ingress Protection (IP) rating scale, designed for products regularly exposed to high-pressure and high-temperature washdowns.
What does IP69K protect against?
IP69K protects electrical devices against ingress of solids (dust-tight) and water, specifically from close-range, powerful, high-temperature water jets.
What applications are suitable for IP69K products?
IP69K products are ideal for applications requiring sanitation and cleanliness, such as Food and Beverage, Wastewater, Pharmaceutical, Marine, and Medical Facilities.
How are IP69K products tested for dust protection?
Products are dust-tight tested in an Arizona A2 Dust chamber for 6 seconds at a time, every 15 minutes for five hours, with 2kg/m³ dust.
How are IP69K products tested for water protection?
Testing includes high-pressure steam jet cleaning with water sprays of 1160–1450 psi, sprayed from 4 angles at 4–6 inches distance, and temperatures of 176°F (80°C).
What certifications do Federal Signal's IP69K products have?
In addition to IP69K, Federal Signal's products meet or exceed UL, CSA, CSFM, IECEx, and other global certifications. The company is also ISO 9001 Certified.
What is the benefit of using IP69K products?
IP69K products help reduce product failures due to water/dust ingress, which increases productivity and decreases production downtime.
How does IP69K differ from NEMA Type 4?
IP69K protects from close-range, powerful, high-temperature water jets and is dust-tight. NEMA Type 4 involves high volume, low pressure water from a long distance.
How to Install the 371DST Strobe Light
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for safely installing and configuring the 371DST Strobe Light in hazardous locations.
Estimated time: 45m
Tools needed:
Screwdriver, Wire strippers, Drill, Multimeter
Supplies needed:
Mounting screws, Washers, Terminal connectors, 1” NPT close-up plug
- Unpack and Inspect the Light
Carefully unpack the 371DST Strobe Light and inspect it for any damage that may have occurred during transit. Do not proceed with installation if damage is found.
- Mount the Light
Choose a suitable mounting location. For surface mounting, use the gasket as a template to mark four drill positions. Drill holes for mounting screws and a central hole for wire entry. Secure the light to the surface using the provided screws and washers.
- Make Electrical Connections
Disassemble the light by removing the dome assembly. Route the supply wires into the housing and strip 0.28” (7 mm) of insulation from the ends. Connect the wires to the terminal block, ensuring correct polarity for DC models. Connect the earth ground to the terminal block.
- Reassemble and Test the Light
Reassemble the light by securing the dome assembly back in place. Ensure all components are tightly fitted. Turn on the power and test the light to confirm it operates correctly.
- Final Safety Check
After testing, ensure that the threaded dome ring joint is fully engaged and that the installation is secure. Provide a copy of the installation instructions to operating personnel.
