- Select the Correct Cable Fitting
Choose the Star Teck cable fitting that is appropriate for the specific enclosure and armored cable you are using. Refer to the provided table in the instruction sheet for compatibility based on cable range over armor and jacket.
- Prepare the Cable
Determine the required working length of the conductor inside the enclosure or device. Carefully remove a portion of the cable's outer jacket to expose the armor. Use a hacksaw to cut the armor to the specified strip length from the table, then trim the outer jacket to match. CAUTION: Exercise extreme caution to avoid nicking or cutting the conductor insulation.
- Insert Cable into Fitting
Feed the prepared armored cable through the gland nut opening of the fitting. Push the cable until its armor firmly contacts the internal end stop of the fitting, as shown in Figure 3 of the instruction sheet.
- Secure and Seal the Fitting
Tighten the gland nut until you achieve an appropriate seal around the cable's outer jacket. Alternatively, tighten to the maximum torque specified in the table for your specific fitting. Ensure the cable remains centered within the bushing to obtain an optimal and even seal, as depicted in Figure 4.
