How to Install Star Teck™ PVC Cable Fittings (ST300-481SPVC Series)
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for the safe and proper installation of Star Teck™ PVC cable fittings, including cable preparation and sealing procedures. Ensure compliance with all national and local electrical codes, and note that installation should be performed by a qualified electrician.

Star Teck™ PVC cable fitting (ST300-481SPVC), Armored cable, Wire pulling lubricant (optional, e.g., cat. number 15-236)
- Select the Appropriate Fitting
WARNING: Risk of shock, disconnect power before installation. Select the correct Star Teck™ PVC cable fitting that matches your enclosure and the cable being used. Refer to the product assembly and table in the full instruction sheet for specific dimensions and compatibility.
- Prepare the Cable Armor
Determine the required working length of the cable. Carefully remove a portion of the outer jacket to expose the cable armor. Use a hacksaw to cut the armor to the specified length, then trim the outer jacket to achieve the exposed armor strip length indicated in the product table (refer to Figures 1 and 2 in the full instruction sheet).
- Prepare the Cable Boot
Prepare the cable boot using one of two methods: Method 1: Unscrew the gland nut from the fitting body, force the square-cut cable into the boot, and then cut the boot in front of the cable (Figure 3A). Method 2: Strip the cable jacket off the armor and progressively cut slices off the boot until the opening snugly slides onto the armor (Figure 3B). CAUTION: Do not over strip the boot; ensure no gaps remain between the boot and the cable jacket.
- Insert Cable into Gland Nut
Feed the prepared cable through the opening of the gland nut. Push the cable until its armor firmly hits the internal end stop of the fitting (refer to Figure 4 in the full instruction sheet).
- Tighten the Gland Nut
Using strap wrenches (as PVC coated fittings require them), tighten the gland nut onto the fitting body. Continue tightening until an appropriate seal is achieved or the maximum torque specified in the product table is reached. Verify that the bushing seals evenly around the cable's outer jacket and that the cable remains centered for an optimal seal (refer to Figure 5 in the full instruction sheet).
