Supplies needed:
ST200-476PVC Cable Fitting, Appropriate cable, Wire pulling lubricant (optional, Cat. No. 15-236)
- Prioritize Safety and Select Fitting
WARNING: Disconnect all power before beginning installation to prevent risk of shock. Ensure a qualified electrician performs the installation in accordance with national and local electrical codes. Select the appropriate ST200-476PVC fitting based on your enclosure and cable specifications.
- Prepare the Cable for Fitting
Determine the required working length of the cable. Carefully remove a portion of the cable's outer jacket to expose the armor. Using a hacksaw, cut the armor to the specified strip length (2.390 - 2.656 inches for ST200-476PVC) and trim the outer jacket to adjust the exposed armor strip length as indicated in the product table.
- Prepare the Cable Boot
Prepare the cable boot using one of two methods. Method 1: Unscrew the gland nut from the fitting body, force the square-cut cable into the boot, and then cut the boot in front of the cable. Method 2: Strip the cable jacket off the armor, then progressively cut slices off the boot until the opening can snugly slide onto the armor. CAUTION: Do not over-strip the boot; there should be no gaps between the boot and the cable jacket.
- Insert Cable into Gland Nut
Feed the prepared cable through the gland nut opening. Push the cable until the cable armor firmly hits the internal end stop of the fitting.
- Secure and Seal the Fitting
Using strap wrenches (as PVC coated fittings require), tighten the gland nut until an appropriate seal is achieved or to the maximum torque of 1600 in-lbs for the ST200-476PVC. Ensure the bushing seals evenly around the cable's outer jacket and the cable remains centered to obtain an optimal seal.
