How to Install Star Teck™ ST200-475S Cable Fittings
A step-by-step guide for preparing armored cable and installing Star Teck™ ST200-475S cable fittings to ensure a secure and sealed connection to an enclosure or device.
Estimated time: 15m
Tools needed:
Hacksaw, Wire strippers, Torque wrench
Supplies needed:
Star Teck™ ST200-475S Cable Fitting, Armored cable, Enclosure or device
- Select Fitting and Disconnect Power
WARNING: Risk of shock, disconnect power before installation. Select the appropriate Star Teck™ cable fitting (e.g., ST200-475S) that accommodates both the enclosure and the cable you are using. Ensure the product is installed by a qualified electrician in accordance with national and local electrical codes.
- Prepare the Cable Armor
Determine the required working length of the conductor inside the enclosure or device. Carefully remove a portion of the cable's outer jacket to expose the armor. Using a hacksaw, cut the armor and trim the outer jacket to achieve the exposed armor strip length specified in the product table for your specific fitting. CAUTION: Do not nick or cut the conductor insulation during this process.
- Insert Cable into Gland Nut
Feed the prepared cable through the gland nut opening of the fitting. Push the cable until its armor firmly hits the internal end stop of the fitting.
- Tighten Gland Nut for Seal
Tighten the gland nut until an appropriate seal is obtained, or to the maximum torque specified in the product table for your fitting. Ensure the bushing seals evenly around the cable’s outer jacket and that the cable remains centered within the fitting to achieve an optimal seal.
