This guide provides step-by-step instructions for the proper installation of Star Teck™ PVC cable fittings, ensuring a secure and sealed connection for armored cables. Installation must be performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with national and local electrical codes.

Strap wrenches, Hacksaw, Wire strippers
Supplies needed:
Appropriate Star Teck™ PVC cable fitting, Armored cable, Wire pulling lubricant (optional, Cat. No. 15-236)
- Select the Correct Fitting
WARNING: Disconnect power before installation to avoid risk of shock. Choose the appropriate Star Teck™ PVC cable fitting that accommodates both the enclosure and the specific armored cable being used. Refer to the assembly and table in the product documentation for compatibility.
- Prepare the Armored Cable
Determine the required working length of the cable. Carefully remove a portion of the outer jacket to expose the cable's armor. Use a hacksaw to cut the armor to the desired length. Trim the remaining outer jacket to adjust the exposed armor strip length as indicated in the product's table (Figures 1 and 2).
- Trim the Cable Boot
Determine where to cut the cable boot using one of two methods: Method 1: Unscrew the gland nut from the fitting body. Force the square-cut cable into the boot. Cut the boot directly in front of the cable end (Figure 3A). Method 2: Strip the cable jacket off the armor. Progressively cut thin slices off the boot until the opening can snugly slide onto the cable armor (Figure 3B). CAUTION: Do not over strip the boot; there should be no gaps between the boot and the cable jacket.
- Insert Cable into Fitting
Feed the prepared armored cable through the opening of the gland nut. Push the cable firmly until the cable armor makes contact with the internal end stop of the fitting (Figure 4).
- Tighten the Gland Nut for Seal
Using strap wrenches (for PVC coated fittings), tighten the gland nut until an appropriate seal is achieved or to the maximum torque specified in the product table (Figure 5). Ensure the bushing seals evenly around the cable's outer jacket and that the cable remains centered within the fitting to obtain an optimal and secure seal.
