Estimated time: 30m
Tools needed:
Wire strippers, Cutting tool
Supplies needed:
Flood-Seal Street Light Tap Kit (SL 3-2 K), Silicone sealant, Silicone grease, Electrical connector, Cable
- Select the Correct Cut-Off Ring
Select the correct cut-off ring from the kit for the specific cable being used. Refer to the provided chart for decimal range and cable size compatibility.
- Prepare the Cable Insulation
Wipe the cable clean to remove any debris. Bevel the end of the cable insulation to ease installation into the tap kit components.
- Strip the Cable Conductor
Strip the cable insulation to expose approximately 3/4 to 1 inch of the conductor, preparing it for connector installation.
- Prepare the Rocket Sleeve and Cap
Cut off the rocket sleeve and cap at the tip of the arrow, ensuring the correct cable size is showing on the opened rocket and cap according to the cable size chart.
- Apply Silicone Grease
Apply silicone grease to the end of the prepared cable and to the cut opening of the insulating sleeve to facilitate sliding and sealing.
- Position the Rocket and Cap
Slide the cut rocket and cap over the prepared cable ends, ensuring they are correctly oriented for the next steps and ready for the connector.
- Install the Connector
Install the appropriate electrical connector onto the stripped conductor, ensuring a secure and proper connection according to manufacturer specifications.
- Apply Silicone to Rocket Sleeve
Apply silicone sealant to the open edge of the rocket sleeve to ensure a watertight seal when the components are joined.
- Assemble the Kit
Slide the components of the Flood-Seal kit together firmly to create a complete and watertight seal around the connection, eliminating the need for taping.
