How to Install the Sweetheart "FLOOD-SEAL"® Mechanical Connector CS 4197 ROCKET
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing the Sweetheart "FLOOD-SEAL"® Mechanical Connector CS 4197 ROCKET on service cables, ensuring proper preparation and secure connections. Installation must be performed by trained installers in accordance with all applicable electrical codes and safety rules.

Torque wrench (recommended), 5/16" allen wrench, 3/8" drive ratchet with allen adapter, Wire brush
Supplies needed:
Sweetheart "FLOOD-SEAL"® Mechanical Connector CS 4197 ROCKET, Service cable, Silicone grease (included), Compound (included)
- Prepare the Rocket/Cap Ring
Identify the service cable size being used. Cut the rocket/cap ring at the tip of the arrow to expose the correct wire range for your cable.
- Prepare the Insulating Sleeve
Cut off the tip of the insulating sleeve at the arrow, ensuring the correct cable size is visible on the sleeve.
- Strip Cable Insulation
Strip approximately 2 1/4 inches of insulation from the service cable, exposing the conductor. Penciling the edge of the insulation is recommended to ease installation.
- Clean and Prepare Conductor
Thoroughly wire brush the bare conductor to remove surface oxides. Apply the provided compound and brush it into the conductor strands.
- Apply Grease and Install Rocket
Wipe the cable clean. Apply the included silicone grease to the prepared cable. Slide the cut rocket over the greased cable.
- Insert Conductor into Connector
Insert the prepared conductor into the outlet barrel of the connector, ensuring a maximum of 1/8 inch of bare conductor is visible.
- Position Rocket Sleeve
Slide the rocket sleeve over the outlet and onto the PVC shoulder. Continue sliding until the rocket firmly butts against the connector bar.
- Tighten Setscrews
Tighten the setscrews onto the conductor to the specified torque. For #12 to #2 wire sizes, apply 120 in-lbs (10 ft-lbs). For 1/0 to 350 Kcmil wire sizes, apply 360 in-lbs (30 ft-lbs). A torque wrench is recommended. If unavailable, use a 5/16” allen wrench or a 3/8” drive ratchet with an allen adapter.
