How to Install the M2DBOOT-3 Connector

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing and wiring the M2DBOOT-3 connector safely and effectively.

Estimated time: 45m

Tools needed:

Screwdriver, Wire strippers, Crimping tool, Multimeter

Supplies needed:

Mounting screws, Cable ties, Boot insulators, Terminal connectors

  1. Prepare the wires

Strip the ends of the wires to the appropriate length as specified in Table III. Ensure that the wire ends are clean and free of any insulation.

  2. Attach connectors

Connect the stripped wires to the appropriate male and female motor disconnects. Ensure that the connections are secure and match the wire sizes specified in the installation instructions.

  3. Crimp the connectors

Use a crimping tool to securely crimp the connectors onto the wires. Follow the manufacturer's guidelines for the specific tool being used to ensure a proper connection.

  4. Insert the male pin

Push the male pin into the female barrel until it is fully inserted, creating a secure pigtail connection.

  5. Slide on the boot

Slide the boot insulator over the pigtail connectors until it stops, ensuring that it covers the connection completely.

  6. Secure the boot

Fasten the first cable tie at the middle of the boot insulator and tighten it snugly. Fasten the second cable tie 1/4 inch from the end of the boot and cut off any excess tie.

  7. Dress the lead assemblies

Carefully dress the lead assemblies into the junction box, ensuring that there are no sharp bends or kinks in the wires.

  8. Verify connections

Use a multimeter to verify that all connections are secure and that there is continuity where expected. Ensure that there are no short circuits.
