Estimated time: 30m
Tools needed:
Hex wrench, Torque wrench, Wire strippers
Supplies needed:
LRT connector body, Threaded stud, LRT insulator, Cable, Set screws
- Place Connector Body and Tighten Stud Set Screw
Place the bare LRT connector body onto the threaded stud. Orient the connector to achieve proper cable training for left-hand, right-hand, or centered installation. Tighten the stud set screw to 300 in./lbs.
- Position the Insulator
Position the clear LRT insulator onto the transformer bushing. Push the insulator as far back onto the bushing as possible, ensuring it is aligned for the desired left-hand, right-hand, or centered installation.
- Align Screw Ports
Line up the screw ports on the insulator with the corresponding screws.
- Prepare for Cable Installation
Loosen and back out the first screw to adjust the insulator's position on the bar, preparing the port for the first cable installation.
- Strip Cable Insulation
Strip the cable insulation 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 inches from the end of the cable.
- Insert Cable
Push the stripped cable through the cable port until the cable insulation meets the connector body.
- Secure Cable
Tighten the ball bottom screw to secure the cable using a hex wrench. Apply torque according to the provided chart: 120 in./lbs (10 ft./lbs) for #12 to #4 wire, or 240 in./lbs (20 ft./lbs) for #2 to 350 MCM wire.
