Estimated time: 30m
Tools needed:
Hex wrench, Screwdriver, Wire strippers
Supplies needed:
Bare LRT connector body, Threaded stud, Clear LRT insulator, Cable, Stud set screw, Screws, Ball bottom screw
- Position Connector Body
Place the bare LRT connector body onto the threaded stud, orienting it for left-hand, right-hand, or centered cable training as needed. Securely tighten the stud set screw to 300 in./lbs.
- Position Insulator
Position the clear LRT insulator as illustrated for left-hand, right-hand, or centered installation. Push the insulator as far back onto the transformer bushing as possible to ensure a snug fit.
- Align Screw Ports
Carefully align the screw ports on the insulator with the corresponding screws to prepare for securing the cables.
- Prepare for First Cable Installation
Back out the first screw to properly position the insulator on the bar, creating space and preparing for the installation of the first cable.
- Strip Cable
Precisely strip the cable insulation to a length of 1-1/4 inches to 1-1/2 inches, ensuring the conductor is exposed for connection.
- Insert Cable
Push the stripped cable through the designated cable port. Continue pushing until the cable insulation is brought up flush with the connector body, ensuring proper seating.
- Secure Cable
Using a hex wrench, tighten the ball bottom screw to secure the cable. For #12 to #4 wire sizes, apply 120 in./lbs (10 ft./lbs) of torque. For #2 to 350 MCM wire sizes, apply 240 in./lbs (20 ft./lbs) of torque.
