K1502A1 Deadbreak Feed-Thru Insert, Stainless Steel Plate, Bar, Stainless Steel Hook Bolts, Stainless Steel Wing Nuts, Lubricant (supplied), Copper wire No. 14 AWG (2.5mm²) or equivalent, Suitable connector for grounding wire
- Check Bushing Well Mounting Bolt Height
When installing the K1502A1 feed-thru insert in a clampable apparatus bushing well, check the height of the mounting bolts. Ensure hardware does not protrude more than 1/2 inch (12mm) above the top of the apparatus bushing well. If bolts protrude excessively, consult the apparatus manufacturer for proper shortening methods.
- Inspect and Lubricate Components
Inspect the apparatus bushing well to ensure it is dry and free from all contaminants. Lubricate the bushing well, its outer well surface, and the bushing well interface and cuff area of the feed-thru insert using only the supplied lubricant or ELASTIMOLD approved lubricants. DO NOT SUBSTITUTE other lubricants, as they may harm the product and its mating products.
- Install and Align Feed-Thru Insert
Place the lubricated portion of the feed-thru insert into the apparatus bushing well. Rotate the feed-thru insert clockwise until it is fully seated. DO NOT FORCE or overtighten, as this may damage the bushing well threads. The insert has a special 180-degree adjustment feature; rotate it counter-clockwise up to a half turn to achieve the desired alignment. A definite stop will indicate the end of the adjustment range.
- Secure Feed-Thru Insert with Mounting Hardware
Assemble the hook bolts into the bushing well tabs. While holding the plate in position, slide the bar over the hook bolts and then assemble the wing nuts. Tighten the wing nuts securely by hand.
- Install Electrostatic Grounding Wire
Push a length of No. 14 AWG (2.5mm²) copper wire, or equivalent, through one of the grounding tabs on the feed-thru insert. Form a small loop and twist it tight, being careful not to damage the conductive shield. Connect the free end of the wire to the system ground using a suitable connector. Ensure the grounding wire does not contact the bushing interface, adjacent bushing interfaces, or interfere with accessories on nearby parking stands.
- Prepare for Mating Products and Connect
Remove any protective shipping covers from the feed-thru insert. Thoroughly wipe the bushing interface clean of any contaminants and lubricate it. Install and bail the mating products (such as elbows, elbow arresters, or insulated caps) to the feed-thru insert, following the specific instructions provided with those mating products.
