This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing the J6-2PS6PS6PS-35 deadbreak junction using the universal mount method. It covers mounting, assembly, and grounding procedures for sectionalizing, looping, or tapping electrical circuits. Ensure all apparatus is de-energized before beginning installation.

Wrenches (for 3/8" and 1/2" hex nuts/cap screws), Wire strippers, Marker, Measuring tape
Supplies needed:
J6-2PS6PS6PS-35 Deadbreak Junction (includes Base Bracket, Base Plate, 4 Universal Brackets, Mounting Hardware Prepack), Fasteners (suitable for mounting universal brackets to the desired surface, user-supplied), Grounding wire (No. 2 solid to 1/0 stranded)
- Prepare for Installation and Mark Location
DANGER: All apparatus must be de-energized during installation. This product should be installed only by competent personnel trained in good safety practices involving high voltage electrical equipment. Determine the desired location for the junction assembly. Use the base plate as a template, place it on the mounting surface, and mark all four slot locations.
- Attach Initial Universal Brackets
Attach two (2) universal brackets to the marked flat surface using suitable fasteners (user-supplied). Tighten these fasteners securely to prevent any movement during operation.
- Assemble Remaining Universal Brackets
Attach the remaining two (2) universal brackets to the two brackets already mounted on the surface. Position them at the desired angle using the supplied 3/8” hex head cap screws, external tooth lock washers, and 3/8” hex nuts. Tighten all hardware securely.
- Assemble Junction to Base Bracket and Base Plate
Assemble the deadbreak junction to the base bracket assembly and base plate. Use two (2) 1/2” hex head cap screws, two (2) 1/2” split lock washers, and two (2) 1/2” hex nuts. Attach this hardware to the center mounting holes on the bracket assembly and tighten securely.
- Mount Junction Assembly to Universal Brackets
Attach the fully assembled deadbreak junction to the universal brackets using the supplied 1/2” hex head cap screws, 1/2” split lock washers, and 1/2” hex nuts. Ensure the parking stand is in the upright position before tightening all hardware securely.
- Ground the Assembly
Ground the base bracket assembly and the junction’s black conductive jacket. A grounding lug is provided on the base bracket for this purpose. Connect a suitable grounding wire (No. 2 solid to 1/0 stranded) to this lug.
