This guide provides step-by-step instructions for using the ERG4008 COMFORT CRIMP® tool to install Sta-Kon® non-insulated terminals on #8-1/0 AWG wires, including essential safety warnings and basic maintenance tips.

ERG4008 COMFORT CRIMP® Tool, Wire strippers, Clean brush or soft, lint-free cloth
Supplies needed:
Sta-Kon® Non-Insulated Terminals, Electrical wire (#8-1/0 AWG), SAE No. 20 motor oil
- Select the Correct Die Nest
Open the tool handles fully. Depress the die wheel release button and rotate the wheel to align with the proper die nest for your specific Sta-Kon® non-insulated terminal and wire gauge (e.g., 8 AWG, 6 AWG, 4 AWG, 2-1 AWG). Release the button to ensure the wheel locks into position.
- Insert Terminal and Wire
Insert the Sta-Kon® non-insulated terminal into the selected die nest. Close the handles slightly to secure the terminal without deforming it. Insert the stripped wire completely into the terminal barrel.
- Crimp the Terminal
Close the tool handles firmly until the SHURE STAKE® mechanism cycle is fully completed. Perform two equally spaced crimps on the terminal barrel to ensure a secure and reliable connection. For larger wire and terminal combinations, use the Crimp Assist™ foot against a flat work surface for increased leverage.
