How to Install the CTP25020N Ground Grid Connector
This guide outlines the steps for installing the CTP25020N high-conductivity copper ground grid connector, including cable preparation and crimping procedures for direct burial applications. Ensure compliance with national and local electrical codes.
Estimated time: 15m
Tools needed:
Wire brush (WWB1) or rough cloth, Hydraulic Crimping Tool (TBM15, TBM15CR-LI, or TBM15I), Crimping Die (15506), Die Adapter (15500-TB, if using TBM15, TBM15CR-LI, or TBM15I)
Supplies needed:
CTP25020N Ground Grid Connector, Electrical cables (3/0 STR. - 250 kcmil and #1 STR. - 2/0 STR.)
- Disconnect Power and Clean Cables
WARNING: Risk of shock, disconnect all power to the electrical system before beginning installation. CAUTION: Product should be installed by a qualified electrician in accordance with national and local electrical codes. Using a wire brush (WWB1) or a rough cloth, thoroughly clean the cable ends of all visible dirt until a bright copper finish is achieved. This ensures optimal conductivity.
- Insert Cables into Connector
Carefully insert the prepared electrical cables into the CTP25020N connector. Ensure that the cable end(s) protrude at least 3/4 inch (19mm) beyond the connector on both sides. The CTP25020N accommodates 3/0 STR. - 250 kcmil cable on one side and #1 STR. - 2/0 STR. cable on the other.
- Crimp the Connector Securely
Using a TBM15, TBM15CR-LI, or TBM15I hydraulic crimping tool with the 15506 die (and 15500-TB die adapter if required for your tool), perform 3 crimps on the connector. Ensure each crimp is firm and complete, following the tool's operating instructions to achieve a secure and high-conductivity connection.
