This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing the CTP202N direct burial ground grid connector, including cable preparation and crimping procedures. Ensure power is disconnected before starting.
Estimated time: 15m
Tools needed:
Wire brush (WWB1) or rough cloth, Hydraulic Crimping Tool (TBM15, TBM15CR-LI, or TBM15I), Crimping Die (15517), Die Adapter (15500-TB, if using TBM15, TBM15CR-LI, or TBM15I)
Supplies needed:
CTP202N Ground Grid Connector, Electrical Cable (#1 STR. - 2/0 STR. or #6 SOL. - #2 STR.)
- Ensure Safety and Review Instructions
Before beginning, read and understand all instructions and safety information. Disconnect all power to prevent risk of electrical shock. Ensure the installation is performed by a qualified electrician in accordance with national and local electrical codes.
- Clean Cable Ends
Using a wire brush (WWB1) or a rough cloth, thoroughly clean the cable of all visible dirt until a bright copper finish is achieved. This ensures optimal conductivity for the connection.
- Position Cable in Connector
Insert the cleaned cable end(s) into the CTP202N connector. Ensure that the cable end(s) protrude at least 3/4 inch (19mm) beyond the connector to ensure a secure and proper connection.
- Secure Connector with Crimps
Using the specified hydraulic tool (TBM15, TBM15CR-LI, or TBM15I) and the appropriate die (15517), perform 3 crimps on the connector. If using TBM15, TBM15CR-LI, or TBM15I, ensure the 15500-TB die adapter is also used. Follow the tool's instructions for proper crimping technique to achieve a secure connection.
