Overview

The ABB ADR-ALCUL Type Anti-Rotational Single-Conductor Lug (SKU: ADR35AR) is engineered for secure and reliable electrical connections in industrial applications. This one-hole mount lug is designed to accommodate a wide range of conductor sizes, from a minimum of 6 AWG up to a maximum of 350 MCM, ensuring versatility for various wiring requirements. Its tin-plated construction provides excellent conductivity and corrosion resistance, crucial for maintaining connection integrity over time. The ADR-ALCUL series features an anti-rotational design, which prevents the lug from spinning during installation and ensures a consistently tight connection. This feature is particularly beneficial in applications where vibration or repeated stress might otherwise loosen standard lugs. The lug is equipped with a 5/16 inch bolt hole, facilitating straightforward mounting to busbars, equipment, or other termination points using standard hardware. Key specifications include: * **Conductor Range:** Min 6 AWG, Max 350 MCM * **Mounting Type:** One-Hole Mount * **Bolt Hole Size:** 5/16 Inch * **Material:** Tin Plated * **Poles:** 1 This lug is suitable for single-conductor applications where a robust and stable termination is paramount. The tin plating offers superior contact resistance and protection against environmental degradation, making it a dependable choice for power distribution, motor connections, and other critical electrical infrastructure. ABB Installation Products is a trusted manufacturer, and the ADR35AR is built to meet the demands of industrial electrical systems.

How to Install Blackburn Aluminum Dual Rated Connectors

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for safely installing Blackburn Aluminum Dual Rated Connectors with aluminum or copper conductors, including preparation, wiring, and torque specifications.

Estimated time: 30m

Tools needed:

Wire brush, Torque wrench, Screwdriver

Supplies needed:

Blackburn Contax Type CT or Weaver Type CP oxide inhibiting compound, Mounting hardware, Flat washers (optional), Belleville washers (optional)

  1. De-energize Circuit and Verify Conductor Size

Before beginning installation, de-energize the circuit to ensure safety. Then, check the conductor size marked on the connector to confirm it is appropriate for the conductor you are using.

  2. Strip Conductor Insulation

Carefully strip the conductor insulation to the length of the connector barrel, taking care to avoid any damage to the conductor strands.

  3. Prepare and Insert Conductor

Wire brush the conductor. If using an aluminum conductor, apply Blackburn Contax Type CT or Weaver Type CP oxide inhibiting compound. Fully insert the prepared conductor into the connector and wipe off any excess oxide inhibitor.

  4. Tighten Connector Setscrew

Apply the recommended tightening torque to the setscrew of the connector. Refer to TABLE 1 in the product documentation for the correct torque value based on the connector's maximum conductor size.

  5. Apply Oxide Inhibitor to Contact Surface

Prior to mounting the connector, apply Blackburn Contax Type CT or Weaver Type CP oxide inhibiting compound to the flat contact surface of the connector.

  6. Torque Mounting Hardware

Install the mounting hardware. Torque the mounting hardware to the values specified in TABLE 2 of the product documentation. For best practice, use flat and Belleville washers in conjunction with the mounting hardware.
