This guide provides step-by-step instructions for safely installing the 160DRG and 167DRG Insulated Cap with Ground Lead onto an ELASTIMOLD 15kV class loadbreak bushing interface.

Insulated Cap with Ground Lead, Lubricant
- Prepare for Installation and Connect Ground Lead
Ensure all apparatus is de-energized before beginning installation. Connect the free end of the electrostatic grounding wire to the system ground, leaving sufficient slack for hot-stick operation. Train the grounding wire to prevent contact with the bushing interface during operation.
- Prepare the Insulated Cap
Remove the protective cover from the insulated cap. Lubricate the cap's internal mating surface using only the supplied or ELASTIMOLD approved lubricant. Do not substitute lubricants. Ensure the internal mating surface remains free from dirt and grime.
- Install the Insulated Cap
Firmly attach a hotstick to the insulated cap's pulling eye. Align the male contact of the insulated cap with the loadbreak bushing. Insert and push the cap home with a fast, firm, straight motion until it is fully mated and the locking ring is seated. Detach the hotstick from the insulated cap.
