How to Install a Push-in Liquidtight Flexible Metal Conduit Fitting

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for the proper installation of a push-in liquidtight flexible metal conduit fitting, ensuring a secure and sealed connection. WARNING: Disconnect power before installation. This product must be installed by a qualified electrician in accordance with applicable electrical codes.

Estimated time: 20m

Tools needed:

Hacksaw or Band Saw, Torque Wrench

Supplies needed:

Liquidtight Flexible Metal Conduit

  1. Prepare the Conduit End

Using a sharp hacksaw or band saw, cut the liquidtight flexible metal conduit cleanly and squarely. Remove any burrs or frayed material from the cut edge to ensure proper sealing and connection (refer to Figure 2 in the documentation).

  2. Pre-assemble the Fitting Gland Nut

Do not disassemble the fitting. Lightly spin the Gland Nut down until you feel minor resistance, indicating that the Sealing Ring and Ground Cone chamfer are in contact.

  3. Insert the Conduit into the Fitting

Align the prepared conduit with the exposed end of the Ground Cone. Carefully push the conduit into the fitting. Once the conduit end enters the throat of the Sealing Ring, firmly push it completely in until it bottoms out. To verify full insertion, mark the conduit at the specified depth (refer to the table in the documentation for your conduit size) from the cut end; this mark should be level with the top of the sealing ring when fully inserted (refer to Figures 2 & 3). Do not pull back on the conduit once it is fully inserted.

  4. Secure the Gland Nut

Using a torque wrench, tighten the Gland Nut to the specified torque value for your conduit size (refer to the table in the documentation and Figure 3). Ensure the fitting is fully torqued for proper performance and liquidtight sealing.
