- Prepare for Safe Operation
Ensure all apparatus are de-energized during installation or removal of parts, except for test point caps and indicators. Use a full insulated hotstick of appropriate length and approved personal protective equipment. Inspect the 370TR for damage and compatibility. Understand that the 370TR is a live front device and direct contact can cause serious injury.
- Insert Test Rod and Detect Voltage
Firmly attach the operating eye of the 370TR test rod to the hotstick. Carefully insert the test rod into the 200 Amp Bushing Interface. Ensure the probe makes direct contact with the bushing contact for accurate voltage indication. Check the test rod disc for voltage using the meter manufacturer’s instructions. Maintain a minimum 2 1/2” clearance between the operating eye, test rod disc, or test rod and any grounded wire, cable shield, or metal structure to prevent flashover.
- Remove Test Rod
After voltage detection has been successfully made, immediately remove the voltage test rod from the 200 Amp Bushing Interface by exerting a pull force with the hotstick. Do not touch or move energized products directly.
