How to Install the 35MTB4-T Bracket Assembly for Premolded Rubber Terminators

This guide details the installation of the 35MTB4-T bracket assembly, which provides a secure means of mounting a premolded rubber terminator directly to a riser pole and supports the weight of the cable. Ensure all apparatus are de-energized before starting.

Estimated time: 45m

Tools needed:

Wrench, Tape measure

Supplies needed:

Pole-mounting bolts, Weather-proof plastic tape, Grounding connector

  1. De-energize and Mount the Bracket Assembly

DANGER: Ensure all apparatus are de-energized before beginning installation. Attach the pole-mounting bracket to the desired mounting surface using appropriate size bolts (not supplied). Secure the connector grip to the pole mounting bracket using the supplied 1/2” x 1” carriage bolt, nut, and lockwasher. Feed the cable through the connector grip, allowing sufficient length for the terminator installation.

  2. Apply Weather-Proof Plastic Tape

Apply weather-proof plastic tape approximately two inches from the bottom end of the wire grip. Tightly wrap the tape with a one-half tape width overlap, moving down the grip approximately one inch onto the cable. Reverse direction and wrap back up to the starting point, stretching the tape to approximately one-half its original width while taping the wire grip.

  3. Install Terminator and Ground the Assembly

Install the premolded rubber terminator by following its specific instructions. After the terminator is installed, ensure that the concentric neutral from the cable, the electrostatic drainwire from the terminator, and the mounting bracket are all properly grounded. The mounting bracket includes a dedicated hole and bolt for attaching a suitable grounding connector (not supplied).
