How to Install the 1535AFB-1 Basic Bracket

This guide provides instructions for installing the 1535AFB-1 basic bracket, designed to support terminators and cables on a horizontal mounting surface. DANGER: Ensure all apparatus are de-energized during installation. This product should only be installed by competent personnel trained in high voltage electrical equipment safety practices.

Estimated time: 45m

Tools needed:

Wrench, Screwdriver, Utility Knife

Supplies needed:

Mounting hardware (bolts/screws), Grounding connector, Grounding wire

  1. Prepare Mounting Surface

If using a pole, crossarm, or riser pole bracket, install it first according to its separate instructions. Ensure the chosen mounting surface is secure and ready for the 1535AFB-1 bracket.

  2. Attach 1535AFB-1 Bracket

Securely attach the 1535AFB-1 bracket to the prepared pole bracket or other horizontal mounting surface using appropriate mounting hardware. Verify that the arrow on the 1535AFB-1 bracket is pointing upwards.

  3. Prepare Adhesive Surface

Carefully remove the protective sheet from the adhesive surface of the bracket.

  4. Position Cable

Place the cable, including any concentric neutral wires, against the exposed adhesive surface. Allow sufficient cable length for the subsequent installation of the terminator, as specified in the terminator's instructions.

  5. Secure Cable with Tie Wrap

Wind the provided polyethylene tie wrap 1-1/2 to 2 turns around the top tie horn and then around the cable to secure it firmly.

  6. Fasten Snap Hose Clamps

Fasten a snap hose clamp on the middle of each tie horn. Trim any excess tie wrap. IMPORTANT: If using concentric neutral cable, ensure the neutral wires are positioned under the tie wrap and are not unraveled or tied off below the bracket.

  7. Install Terminator

Install the terminator onto the cable according to the specific instructions provided with the terminator.

  8. Grounding Connections

Ground the concentric neutral wires from the cable(s), the electrostatic drain wire(s) from the terminator(s), and the 1535AFB-1 mounting bracket. Use a suitable grounding connector (not supplied) attached to the mounting hole provided on the bracket.
