Key specifications include a phase-to-ground operating voltage of 8.3kV, maximum phase-to-phase voltage of 14.4kV, and a basic impulse insulation level (BIL) of 95kV. The assembly meets ANSI/IEEE Standard 386 and withstands 34kV AC for one minute, 53kV DC for 15 minutes, and 11kV AC corona extinction at 3pC sensitivity. It also handles 10kA symmetrical momentary and fault close operations for 10 cycles. The 164J3-5 PREPACK includes all necessary components for immediate installation: a basic molded junction (164J3-5), three protective shipping caps (1601-APC-1), two tubes of lubricant (82-08), installation instructions (IS-0375), U straps for mounting, a bottom shield plate, and a hardware pack. The junction is designed to mate with Elastimold® elbow connectors, including the 15kV family of elbows, 160GLR grounding elbow, 370TR test rod, and 160DR/DRG insulated caps. Applications include subsurface vaults, padmount installations, sectionalizing, looping, tapping, and equipment bypass on 15kV class distribution systems. The fully shielded and submersible design ensures safe operation in wet or corrosive environments, while the separable insulated assembly allows for energized maintenance without service interruption.
