Overview

The **nVent Vortex Cooler Type 12 (SKU: VC0916012)** provides refrigerant-free cooling for industrial enclosures using compressed air. This 115V, 50/60Hz system delivers **900BTU/hr** of chilled air to protect sensitive electronics in small to medium enclosures (up to 3 cubic feet). The brushed aluminum housing meets **NEMA Type 12** standards for dust and drip resistance, operating reliably from **-40°F to 160°F (-40°C to 71°C)**. With a **264W power draw** and **<70 dB(A) noise level**, it requires minimal maintenance—no moving parts, no refrigerants, and no complex installation. Connect to a **40–100 PSIG clean, dry compressed air source** (15 SCFM) for continuous operation. Ideal for manufacturing, oil & gas, food processing, and renewable energy sectors where harsh conditions demand reliable thermal management.

How to Install the VCool System VC0916012

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for installing the VCool System VC0916012, ensuring proper setup and connection for optimal cooling performance.

Estimated time: 45m

Tools needed:

Screwdriver, Wire strippers, Multimeter

Supplies needed:

Mounting screws, Terminal connectors, Locknut, Ducting kit

  1. Prepare the enclosure

Cut a 1-1/8” hole in the enclosure using a suitable cutting tool. Ensure the edges are smooth to prevent damage.

  2. Mount the VCool System

Insert the VCool into the cut-out hole and secure it with the provided locknut. Ensure it is tightly fastened to prevent any air leaks.

  3. Install the ducting kit

Perforate the ducting kit with several 1/8” holes and secure it to the interior of the enclosure. Attach the ducting kit to the cold outlet of the VCool.

  4. Connect the components

Wire the compressed air filter, solenoid valve, and thermostat to the VCool. Connect the thermostat directly to the solenoid valve.

  5. Connect the compressed air supply

Attach the compressed air supply to the filter. Ensure the filter and solenoid valve are installed close to the VCool and in a location where the temperature does not exceed 125°F (52°C).

  6. Verify the installation

Check all connections for tightness and ensure there are no leaks. Use a multimeter to verify electrical connections if necessary.
