How to Install the TBHUB12 Type 3R Terminal Box
Guide for installing and wiring the TBHUB12 Type 3R Terminal Box for outdoor commercial and industrial applications.
Estimated time: 1h
Tools needed:
Screwdriver, Wire strippers, Wrench, Drill, Measuring tape
Supplies needed:
Mounting hardware, Conduit fittings, Wire connectors, Grounding hardware
- Select Mounting Location
Choose a suitable outdoor location for the terminal box. Ensure the location is accessible for maintenance and protected from extreme environmental conditions not covered by the Type 3R rating. Verify that the mounting surface is sturdy and can support the weight of the enclosure and its contents.
- Prepare the Enclosure
Open the removable cover of the TBHUB12 terminal box. If using an interchangeable bolt-on hub, select the appropriate size for your conduit and install it in the designated hub opening at the top of the enclosure. If knockouts are to be used for conduit entry, carefully remove the appropriate knockouts from the bottom of the enclosure using a drill or knockout punch. Consult the datasheet for specific knockout sizes.
- Mount the Terminal Box
Securely mount the TBHUB12 terminal box to the chosen surface using appropriate mounting hardware. Ensure the enclosure is installed in an upright position to maintain its Type 3R rating. Verify that the mounting is firm and stable.
- Install Grounding
Connect a grounding conductor to the grounding provisions inside and outside the terminal box. Use appropriate grounding hardware and ensure a secure connection to the enclosure and the grounding system. Refer to local electrical codes for specific grounding requirements.
- Wire the Terminal Box
Route feeder and branch circuit wires through the installed conduit fittings or knockouts. Strip wire ends as needed according to the wire range specified for the installed lug assembly (e.g., #14-2/0 for TB100, #6-350 MCM for TB200, #4-600 MCM for TB400). Connect the wires to the distribution lugs, ensuring proper torque and connection for each wire. For specific torque values, consult the lug assembly documentation or the product datasheet. If using multiple lugs, ensure correct phase and neutral connections as per your system requirements.
- Finalize Installation
Close and secure the removable cover of the terminal box. Ensure it is properly sealed to maintain the Type 3R rating. If provisions for padlocking or sealing are available, use them to secure the enclosure. Verify all connections are tight and the installation is complete.
